Just now hearing Enemy Is Us on Tribunal Records, despite my "connections"...reminds me of early The Haunted....

As far as thrash goes, I used to be a MASSIVE fan of the genre, and many of those albums still remain favorites, but as I get older, thrash just doesn't have the same "kick" for me as it did when I was first discovering it. Granted, I'm not THAT old, but I do find myself searching for a bit more melody and song writing than many thrash has to offer. Some thrash bands can write some very memorable songs, but overall, the my personal reactions to the songs aren't as euphoric as they once were.

I'm super excited about this thrash resurgence though. Regardless of how I feel about the genre, this movement is keeping a lot of bands accountable. It's keeping the metal scene pretty pure.

I still pay attention to the genre though and to answer your question about best retro thrash albums--

Exit to Eternity - Coming Down
Havok - Time is Up
Warbringer - Waking into Nightmares/Worlds Torn Asunder
Violator - Chemical Assault
