The one about Billy Ray Cyrus' album made me laugh cuz my wife owns that CD and I've been giving her crap about it for years!!!

I'm ambivalent about the Katy Perry/Michael Jackson one cuz I don't really give a crap about either one. Though if forced to choose, I'd have to say I prefer Katy Perry cuz she has nice hootage.

My guess is over time Hendrix will end up selling more.

I doubt that the Rihannas, Keishas, and Perrys will be remembered or cared about twenty years from now. Unlike Zeppelin, REM, or the Beatles. Though it's shocking if those numbers are legit how many people are buying that stuff. I would've figured most of the people in the market for such music would just download it.

Rihanna is the cancer of music of today.

I absolutely hate her voice.. or what is left after all layers of effects used to create her sound.

Popular music has always been a commodity, so these facts are not surprising at all. There's always been those out to make a quick buck versus those who view music as an art form, and the former is just unfortunately more prominent these days. The art will last the distance (like it has already), and the other stuff will fade away in favour of the next sellable commodity.
