| What about the thousands of dollars a band pays to record, manufacture and distribute a cd and then have somebody "borrow" it from the internet. _________________ |

| I did a lot of CD-R trading in the early '00s when I first got on the Net and started hanging out on forums. It was kinda the "thing to do" back then. Not so much anymore in recent years. I still have a bunch of 'em in the closet though. Bit by bit I've been trying to replace the ones I really like with the "real" CDs but it's likely to take a very long time before I upgrade them all. Shoot, I'm still upgrading the last of my cassettes to CDs and that's been going on for nearly 20 years. _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

Buy the reissues dude dont steal music, as often as rare metal from the 80s gets released on a new label that is legit such as Century media there is no reason to pay those prices unless you are a collector and that happens to be your thing. _________________ |

| I buy blank cdr's and burns from distro's/bands.
The past two years I have bought a lot more cdr releases as they are only $2 or $3, but am going to be more selective and research first.
Some being sold out there are from mp3 sources, and not CD copies, so I might as well have just downloaded.
In Canada, blank media like discs and cassettes are taxed which is supposed to go towards bands / record labebls, but I have yet to hear from a single person who has benefited from this. |

| Oh I think I might have been confused about what was being referred to here. I do have some cdrs of albums I only own on cassette that I transferred to the computer and burned. I did recently replace my Reverend - Play God cassette with a real cd copy though! |

| The 10 or so I have in my collection are merely placeholders for the real thing that I'll get to replacing eventually. Might have a coupla mix cds I made too.
And a couple cdrs that a buddy of mine gave to me that I don't have the heart to throw in the garbage. Why he thought I'd want a copy of Pat Benetar's Greatest Hits is beyond me. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

This is my story as well. Have a couple of portable drives with live shows on them too. Audio and Video. Mostly blues, jam bands and ol' Haight/Asbury bands._________________ |
