| Have you ever heard a song and thought it was by a different artist than the one its actually by? For example, when i first heard Pink Floyd's "Learning to Fly", i thought it was by some synth-driven AOR band, not PF. Another example is the Joe Jackson song "Is she really going out with him?". For the longest time i thought it was a song by the Cars, and wondered which album it was on until i found out who it really was by. |

| It took me a long time to acknowledge that "Balls To The Wall" was not an AC/DC song. |

| I once got part of Badlands' "Winter's Call" stuck in my head and couldn't recall its name because I knew what band it was, but it wasn't on any of the Led Zeppelin albums I owned... |

| I thought "different breed" by Dead On was a Megadeth song at first..haha. Probably didnt help that the first time I heard it was on that split/single thingy that Dead On and Megadeth did. _________________ |

| On a pop note: I thought, until very recently, that the song "Right Time Of The Night" was by Linda Ronstadt not Jennifer Warnes. |

| When I first heard Stryper's "Honestly" on the radio I thought it was Styx. I believed this forever until I actually bought To Hell With The Devil. Even then my first thought upon hearing it was - "hey it's that Styx song that was a hit back in the day". One of the many things that used to tick me off about radio back then was the refusal to name the song and artist at every turn. Twenty years on there are songs I'd heard that I still can't ID. |

| When I was a kid I thought that "Carry On My Wayward Son" was by Styx. I think it reminded me of "Come Sail Away". _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I'm surprised by the amount of people I talk to on-line that think Ultimatum's cover of "Burn" is an original song and are shocked when I tell them it's a cover. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I always thought the Toadies song Possum Kingdom was a Bad Religion tune until my friend pointed it out to me. I'd never even heard of the Toadies, but had heard that song a million times on radio and it just always sounded like a Bad Religion song. Really weird. |

| When I was a kid I thought "Paperback Writer" was by the Doors.
Also I assumed I didn't like David Bowie for many years, but in college I finally realized that "Changes" was by him and had to reevaluate my opinion there. I'm now a casual fan. |

Good grief. Don't these people ever read album credits? _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

| When it first came out, I thought that Crack The Sky's "From the Greenhouse" was Pink Floyd. It just sounds like something Floyd would do. |

| I thought it was the Beatles, but it was really Badfinger on songs like "Come and Get It".
I thought it was brand new Razor, when I heard it on the radio, but no, was told it was new POSSESSED with "No Will to Live" off the "Beyond The Gates"LP when I went to the Record Peddler the next day demanding it! hahaha |

That bugs me too, when songs and artists are not announced. Part of the reason I stopped listening to the radio to discover new music.
Probably a lot of people still disagree the close sound of Stryper to STYX. |

Makes sense. I think Paul McCartney wrote some of their songs or produced albums. I forget exactly what, but he was involved with them in some aspect.
EDIT: Badfinger were one on the first bands signed to the Beatle's Apple Records. Mac mentored them, so they say. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

There are no album credits if you illegally download songs. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Back in the 70's when I was a kid, I thought that "Baby Please Don't Go" was an original Ted Nugent/Amboy Dukes song. Of course it's a cover of Big Joe Williams that has also been covered by AC/DC, Aerosmith, amongh others. However, I still think the version on Double Live Gonzo is the ultimate version. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I thought Sympathy For The Devil was from The Who for many years until I found out from the Guns N' Roses cover it was the Stones. |
