Chronicles of Riddick-$110,000,000 budget and all they managed to do with all that money was bore me to tears. I wasn't really crazy about the first film Pitch Black to begin with.

The Crow

Hadn't seen it since it first came out on video. Didn't do anything for me then and all I could think about was how Brandon Lee was killed, but I liked it a whole lot better this time. I guess with time it is much more comfortable viewing. Wonder what kind of career he would have had?

Delocated

Has anyone seen this show? I never heard of it until last week when I saw the DVD in Wall-Mart. The cover of the DVD is my Avatar and I thought it was some stupid movie. When I got home I turned on the Cartoon Network and a commercial for the show came up and then I knew what it was. I checked out some videos online and found it to be hilarious so I picked up the DVD. I have to say its a pretty good show. My gf and I have really enjoyed it.

The show is about this guy that moves his family to NYC in the witness protection program so they can star in a reality tv show, but they are forced to wear ski masks the whole time and their voices are disguised.

Anyway here are 2 clips that really made get into the show.

That's on my list to investigate soon. Christopher Lee was the "Man with the Golden Gun" wasn't he? I haven't seen that flick since I was in my teens.

Yes, Christopher Lee is the perfect Bond villain (with Donald Pleasance running a close second).

The Man With The Golden Gun also features Britt Eckland and Maude Adams (who returned as Octopussy) in the eye candy department. Plus Tattoo from Fantasy Island! De Bond! De Bond!

I reserved "Man w/The Golden Gun" at my library yesterday (they didn't have it in house, so it has to be shipped in from another town) so I'll be checking that out soon. Also requested "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "From Russia With Love." I'm having a ball re-visiting all these old Bond flicks lately.

"House on Haunted Hill" (1999)

High-tech update of the 1950s classic is pretty damn good in its own right, as a group of people accept a challenge to spend the night in a supposedly-haunted former insane asylum in order to win a million dollar prize. Geoffrey Rush, Famke Janssen and Chris Kattan chew the hell out of the scenery and there's plenty of cool gore effects. Neat stuff.

The first four episodes of Arrested Development. I'd heard nothing but praise for this show, so I finally checked it out (I'm glad I did).

Make sure you revisit "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." That's one of my favorites and I think it gets overlooked alot because George Lazenby was Bond.

I looked for that one in the library's computer system but none of the libraries in my area seem to have it. I am honestly not even sure if I've ever seen that one, if I did it was so long ago that I remember nothin' about it.

It's good, but not a great movie.

The movie is actually pretty realistic for an action flick.

On an interesting note, I was actually the only person in the theater when I saw it.

Telly Savalas is casted as Blofeld if that rings a bell. Other than that, I won't spoil it for you if you haven't seen it.

Kojak!!!

Yeah, I remember that flick - it's not bad and is far from the worst Bond flick. Too bad Connery didn't do that one, he would have made it even better.

Interesting fact - one of the two Bond flicks with no big theme song in the beginning and the one Bond flick where a character broke the 4th plane and spoke to the audience.

That does ring a bell, so I probably have seen it when I was a kid in the early '80s, but it's been so long now that I honestly can't remember a damn thing about the movie. So whenever I do get to re-visit it, it'll be like seeing it for the first time!

I think I do remember that bit... he sez something like "this never happened to the other guy," right?

Interesting bit of trivia... in Adam ("Batman") West's autobiography "Back to the Batcave," he claims that when producers were casting for a new James Bond, Albert Broccoli offered him the part in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." He gave it some serious thought (he sez "The three biggest pop culture phenomenons of the '60s were Batman, Bond and the Beatles... and here I had a chance to be part of two out of three!") but he decided not to take it cuz he felt the fans would rebel at an American actor taking on the Bond role.

Adam West is a cool mo-fo but I can't really picture him as Bond. Turning down the role probably wasn't a great career move for him, but I think he made the right decision!!!

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is one of the very best Bond films, even with Lazenby as Bond. It's the only film where Bond gets into a serious relationship (with the incredibly hot Diana Rigg) which sets up the most intense ending of the series.

That ending is an interesting story unto itself. It was originally intended to be the pre-credit sequence of the next film...but by the time the film was getting ready to come out they had already decided to replace Lazenby, so they used the footage as the ending of this film.
