Caught most of 'Bad Teacher' with Cameron Diaz last night on cable. Not great, but better than I expected. I LOL'ed a few times, as the kids would say. They still say that, right?

Morning Glory. Light comedy riff on the morning talk-show scene, the cast makes the movie (Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton).

After much dental work I went to the bargain theater and saw these:

Puss In Boots: Not as good as the Shrek movies but still very entertaining.

The Muppets: OMG that had to be the hokeiest (sic?) yet funniest movies I have seen in some time. I laughed almost thoughout the whole movie. Also couldn't keep my eyes of Amy Adams (I always forget how damn hot she is compared to many of the pictures of her I have). Every scene she was in my main focus of sight was on her (hence the addition to my sig)

Sherlock Holmes 2: Not sure if I'd say it's better than the first but it is definatly tied. Funny, action packed, and another stellar perfromance from the former Robert "Downer" Jr. (his recovery from his drug riddled past appears to be going strong).

Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead

When you pick up a Troma flick, you know going in that any sense of good taste is going out the window but Geez, this is even too much for me. Lloyd Kauffmann just tries too hard to shock AND be funny at the same time and it just doesn't work.

Highlander

Always kind of dug this movie. Holds up okay. Ron Pearlman is awesome though. Never seen (or have avoided) all the many spinoffs. Too afraid to look at the sequel - never heard a good thing said about it.

I personally liked The Quickening almost as much as the first. The following ones were OK but no better than TV movies. Of course I like a lot of cheesy action/fantasy movies so take my opinion for whatever it's worth.

Just caught up with these online:

Big Bang Theory
Rob
Fringe (from two weeks ago, I have last week's on tape I still need to watch)

On DVD I've watched and am watching:

Night Court
Penguins Of Madagascar
Are You Being Served?

I might have to check that out then. I'm right there with you on the cheesy/fantasy movies love. I saw Beastmaster in the theaters......four times. And it would've been more if it hadn't left. Also it was Clancy Brown who is awesome in Highlander. I always confuse him with Ron Pearlman.

"Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part One" (2011)

...yeah, I took one for the team last night, fellas. The wife wanted to see this one and I had a free rental coming to me from RedBox, so I figured at least it wouldn't cost me anything but time.

In case you care, this is the latest "Twilight" installment, in which the annoying, whiny, terminally depressed Bella and the sparkly vampire Edward have a fairy tale wedding, consummate their marriage on their honeymoon, and Bella gets pregnant with some kind of never-before-seen half-vampire, half-human mutant which has the potential to threaten the entire world. Or something like that. After a while I stopped paying attention and was simply hoping that the werewolves would just bust in and kill everybody, but no such luck.

This was an EXTREMELY slow moving film (I swear, nothing happens till the last half hour) and the hipster indie rock (lots of plaintive piano ballads) that provides the soundtrack for nearly every scene was pure torture.

Don't make the same mistake I did. If you have a penis, avoid this film.

ack, I seen some of those Twilight movies, and they were ok, so too bad the latest is even worse.
You would think they would put more action in the longer the series continues, to guarantee $ ?

The Twilight series' target audience (women) doesn't want to see action. They want to see drama, romance, and sacrifice. *SIGH*

Caught up on some episodes of Tosh.0 for the new season. Still funny, but he's losing his edge a bit.

So it wasn't just me? I mean, I've watched the other "Twilight" flicks w/my wife in the past, and though I wasnt' crazy about any of them, this one seemed particularly snail-paced. I now understand why animals in traps will sometimes chew off their own leg in order to escape. Very Happy

Battle Beyond The Stars (1980)

Watched this last night for probably the first time in at least 25 years, cheesy as hell but fun flick.

Things that surprised me...

1. It had been so long that I had forgotten the story is a variation on The Seven Samurai, even having Robert Vaughan essentially reprise his role from The Magnificent Seven.

2. The music score by James Horner is VERY similar to the score he did for Star Trek: The Motion Picture which was also released in 1980.

3. Many of the model shots of the spacecraft were quite well done and hold up nicely (things like laser and explosions were cheesier).

Oooh yeah, that's a goody. I haven't seen it in years though.
