Manny your missing a date! 6/9 at Staples Center in LA!

Got my tix for that one and I'm very happy it's still going on!

The next day I have second row for Chickenfoot at the Greek!

Bummer on the postpones! But I'm stoked for that weekend! Which is also my birthday!

Bill,

Cool about the Staples Center show, it was a little too rich for my blood. Didn't know you were in LA. Happy Birthday in advance!

Not surprisingly Hagar had a comment about Van Halen's current cancellation of tour dates:

The postponement of Van Halen's tour might be surprising for their fans, but not for Sammy Hagar. The former singer for the band who currently plays in Chickenfoot with another ex-member of the Van Halen Michael Anthony, said he had foreseen the woe.

"They're hard people to get along with, those brothers," Hagar told The Associated Press. "Otherwise I'd still be in the band." He additionally said, "I'm surprised it took this long" for them to cut short the roadshow. "I predicted this was going to happen a lot sooner. I lost money on that bet!" he mocked.

No official reason has been given regarding the postponement of the tour, but rumors about a fallout among the members have since swirled on the web. According to a Rolling Stone source, the members "hate each other." The source claimed, "The band is arguing like mad. They are fighting."

Another source, however, argued to TMZ that the band put some of the concerts on hold to allow them to "recharge their engines." They thought the tour was "too much, too fast," and were afraid they might be "losing their focus." "They want to make sure their concerts are not a routine," a different insider claimed. "They want every performance to be special."

He seems obsessed with Van Halen and DLR, those guys stopped talking trash about him ages ago.

Sammy probably should take the high road as it pertains to his feelings about the brothers and DLR. The reason they don't talk trash about Sammy, is due to how he is perceived. How many bad stories are floating around out there involving Sammy and how he treats his fans, peers, and those within in the industry? Now, ask that same question as it pertains to those other three. I would have absolutely no fear approaching Sammy Hagar if I saw him on the street, but I can't say that I would feel the same way about the others in question? There's a reason why one is perceived as a people's person and the other three are viewed as malcontents. There's a reason that the Hall of Fame induction was a disaster, but neither one of those reasons has to do with Sammy Hagar or Michael Anthony.

Dude needs to move on. 10 years ago, I was on his side but if he's so happy with his life and Chickenfoot, shut up and act like it. He can't go one interview without knocking VH. Stop dwelling on the past.

Part of the problem though too is the press. Just like they keep asking Slash about a GnR runion or Dave Mustaine about Metallica, they keep asking Sammy about Van Halen and of course he's gonna say something. Now Sammy could just be polite and say "no comment", but that's not we want to hear, is it? Just like Dave Mustaine, they ask, he answers and they get their blurb to print in Rolling Stone or wherever.

Sammy could shut-up a little here too, but the press is just as much to blame.

I'd be pissed if my old band was doing well at arena's while my current band was doing casino's and theaters. Oh well, just watched a Sammy thing on DirectV AUD channel last night and he sounded like crap behind the microphone. His guitar playing was great of course. The band (The Cabo Wabo's ????) was adequate on their own tunes but had no "togetherness" on the old Sammy solo stuff and especially the Van Halen tunes. Still enjoyed it well enough.

DLR has released a video statement concerning the postponements. Take it for what it's worth...

http://vimeo.com/42480835

I happen to think it's more related to slow ticket sales. They tried to hit the same markets too close together. They just played Philly in March and then were coming back in July? With tickets prices the way they are, folks ain't paying to see the same show twice. And it's not like they had a big, theatrical stage show. Aside from the video screen behind them, it was pretty bare-bones. Changing up the set-list here and there doesn't warrant a $160 ticket charge.

PS A Different Kind of Truth flattens out, rolls up and smokes Chickenfoot III. In my not-so-humble opinion. Cool

Sammy doesn't need any more money. Since he sold his Tequila brand to Seagrams for ridiculously mad benjaminz some years ago, he's set for life. Several lives, in fact.

The dude is proof of the old saying 'The best revenge is living well.' He must be like "Soooo, Eddie and Dave are giving it another try? Cool, I'm just gonna sit here on my lounge chair padded with $100 bills, surrounded by beautiful bikini babes, gaze out at my private beach and wait for them to implode."

That's the way I took it. I don't see Sammy's comments about this VH tour being sour-grapes. More like "been there, done that, don't wanna do it again".

Anyone ask Gary Cherone's thoughts on the matter? Laughing very hard

Gary Cherone's probably been waiting by his phone waiting for Eddie to call him ever since the tour started. "Dave will flake out and they'll need to me to fill in. I KNOW they will. Fingers crossed, fingers crossed. (Pause) Come on, damn it, RING!!!"

I started heard a rumor that the Rolling Stone offices have put a block on all calls from Gary.

"Yes, we know you were in the band for 15 minutes, Mr. Cherone. But we're not interested in your comments at this time. We're doing a piece on the new Nicki Minaj re-mix album. Stop calling here. Good day to you, sir."

Don't hold your breath for another DLR/Van Halen album...

Quote :
David Lee Roth has said he’d love to have Michael Anthony rejoin Van Halen.

The bassist, now with Chickenfoot, fell foul of Eddie Van Halen’s temper in the mid-2000s and was replaced by the guitarist’s young son Wolfgang for the reunion with Roth. At one point the band attempted to airbrush him out of album cover images on their website, and used Wolfgang’s likeness in a video game when he performed tracks recorded by Anthony before he was born.

Now Roth says he’d like the original lineup to get back together – and expresses frustration over the lack of future plans following the release of A DIfferent Kind Of Truth last year.

The singer tells Rolling Stone: “Clearly, vocals are every bit as much a component of success as a rhythm section or a guitar solo. There’s an old expression saying, ‘They don’t go home singing the lighting show, they don’t go home singing the production.’ You’re right, they sing my words and my melodies.

“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. That voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind and Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys.

“So I would always look forward to that reunion, and I would always look forward to writing a whole variety of material.”

But Roth believes that creating new songs is nearly as unlikely as Anthony’s return. He says: “Ed has his own vision, I’m assuming. We haven’t really been able to speak about it and it’s a disappointment.

“Almost all of the music that you hear on our most recent album was written and demoed before the first album. I would certainly look forward to writing a whole list of songs with Ed, but we haven’t found the time to do that.

“I’m not sure what’s in Ed’s mind at this point. I’m gonna guess that his plans are to write with his son, and I’m not sure where that actually leads. But truth be told, Edward and I haven’t written a new song in 20 years.”

The vocalist would also relish the chance to escape the US and play further afield. “Alex and I have been begging to become part of that, and Glastonbury and Reading and Hyde Park,” he explains. “We’re knocking on the doors begging for Bonnaroo and begging for Lollapalooza and Coachella – not even as an advancement of career, but there’s a whole new audience who doesn’t know and doesn’t give a shit about Van Halen, and that’s exactly the best audience to sharpen your spirit on.

“That will compel you to the very best that you have. I can’t wait for those opportunities, and wish us well. We’ve been asking for those shows since I’ve gotten back with the band six years ago, and I’ll be very curious to see where we wind up come next season.”

If Dave starts going to the press that he wants Michael back and ditch Wolfie, how do you think that's gonna sit with Eddie?

The reunion was nice while it lasted. Razz

That sucks, but I agree with DLR, get Anthony back and tour in front of audiences to make you prove yourselves. DLR at 58 is still looking to challenge himself and to me that is very cool.
