Anybody remember seeing Kiss "perform" the song "I" on Solid Gold? Always thought it was scary having Kiss introduced by Dionne Warwick....

I voted as Love It, not my favorite KISS album, but most interesting KISS album by far. You have Lou Reed helping out with the lyrics, some kind of story line that I still not have totally figured out and a decade later you have Cher covering 'A World Without Heroes"

I always wondered what Eric Carr must have thought, here he is joining one of the biggest metal bands in the world and here he is sitting with Bob Ezrin and huge orchestra while Gene and Paul are explaining the album's concept and Ace has split refusing to come to the studio.

Good album,I think it would've got more props if it'd came after Creatures Of The Night. Paul's solo on A World Without Heroes is my fave off the whole album.

I love the album but I think it would not matter when it would have been released, the album still would have gotten slammed and been a commerical failure because fans still would have complained that it does not sound like KISS.

KISS were already on life support (at least in the U.S.) by the time ELDER came out...

You have to see the movie to get the full effect.

That's true. Plus Kiss was already on a downward spiral after releasing Dynasty and Unmasked (both of which I like).

Only Gene Simmons knows, and he's too embarrassed to talk about it. Smile

Gene sued him and he morphed into Marc 'N.W.A' Mason.

I think "The Elder" was mostly Bob Ezrin's brainchild. The band went in to record "Creatures of the night", and I think the 4 tracks that ended up on "Kiss Killers" were song originally intended to be on the follow up to "Unmasked". But Bob had an idea not far from what he had done with Alice Cooper, and his "Welcome To My Nightmare" concept album, and TV movie. One must also remember Bob's contibution to Pink Floyd's "The Wall". Rock operas was this guys "thing", I reckon. And as much as I love "The Elder", I can totally hear how long time fans of Kiss were dissapointed. I, on the other hand, were 6 years old, and the band could do no wrong! We thought the devil himself was singing on "The Oath". Years later my violin teacher wanted me to find a song I liked to learn to play. I had him transscribe "Under The Rose"!
