| Y&T (originally known as Yesterday & Today) is an American rock band formed in 1974. The band released two studio albums on London Records as Yesterday & Today in the 1970s, before shortening their name to Y&T and releasing several albums on A&M Records beginning in 1981, as well as albums on Geffen Records, Avex Records, and others. They have been declared influences by many bands from Motley Crue to Metallica. While they have gone through many lineup changes the core member is Dave Meniketti. The most famous lineup was Dave Meniketti – lead guitar, lead vocals.. Joey Alves – rhythm guitar, backing vocals..Phil Kennemore – bass guitar, backing vocals...Leonard Haze – drums, backing vocals. http://www.meniketti.com/index.html ...................................... First album up... Yesterday & Today Animal Woman 25 Hours A Day Game Playing Woman Come On Over My Heart Plays Too Earthshaker Fast Ladies (Very Slow Gin) Alcohol Beautiful Dreamer Awesome album that started it all. This album was recorded on London Records and released in 1976. Personal favorite on this album would be "Beautiful Dreamer". |

| Seeing that a thread on this band was started I pulled this disc out of my archives and get it a fresh spin.
I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the disc. Musically Yesterday and Today were mining from a similar field as Sammy Hagar was doing during this era.
Y & T's metal was purely a working class rockers band, nothing fancy, just straight ahead hard rock.
Fav song on this disc are 'Game Playing Woman' which has a Led Zep breakdown. As a matter fact through out the album Led Zep's influence come thru on the songs, thankfully not enough to make you consider them a Led Zep tribute act but its there in the grooves.
Very good disc that was going against the grain of what everyone else was doing at that time, |

| Cool! Glad you started this thread topic! I only discovered Y&T much later (in my teens) when "Mean Streak""Summertime Girls" was released, but heard about the weight of this band in the Bay Area. |

| Being that Sammy had moved from So. Calif. to the Bay Area before joining Montrose and then this band being from the Bay Area (Livermore, Calif) There had been some animosity between Dave and Sammy, both have similar voices and play lead guitar.
I enjoy this album and like Manny really dig on "Game Playing Woman" Leonard is really under-rated on the drums. Thunderfoot is an adequate moniker. _________________ |

| Leonard Haze is an awesome drummer!!!!!! Nice to see a thread on this great Bay Area band.
I didn't get into them until they started playing stuff from Black Tiger on KSJO/KOME. I don't spin this first one one much but I will pull this out and listen to it again.

| I have this album on vinyl and wish I could find it cheap on CD. I have not played in eons because I no longer have a working turn table, but I do remember loving this album and felt it was better album then debut, especially when it came to the production of this disc.
Sadly 1978 was not a good year to be a newish metal band, so straight to the cut out bin this album went. |

| "Dreams of Egypt" is a really cool song!
My old best friend in High School had this on vinyl. He also had one wall in his room painted with the Y&T logo. |

| I am of the opinion that this second lp is better than the debut. This band and April Wine had a way of letting you know they could rock hard. Yet, that wasn't all that they did. _________________ |

Odd you said this. When I first heard Y&T (the soon to come Earthshaker album), a neighbourhood chum who already had these two afore mentioned records called them the American April Wine. I listened to Earthshaker and did not here the comparison. Not until I finally heard the first through did that statement click. |

Just saw them over the summer and Dave still sounds and plays like he's 25. |

I saw them play at The Roadhouse on Bell Ave. quite a few years ago and they were killer(as usual. Every time I've seen them they've put on a good show.) and very loud. |

| next up is Earthshaker. This was an "earthshaking" album for sure that really changed everything. It was released in 1981 and was the first album with the shortened name of simply Y&T. "Hungry for Rock" "Dirty Girl" "Shake it Loose" "Squeeze" "Rescue Me" "Young and Tough" "Hurricane" "Let Me Go" "Knock You Out" "I Believe in You" |

| They upped the bar on this one dramatically
The guitar tone really changed the dynamics and I believe that I saw them this year (1981) w/out realizing it was Yesterday & Today.
Great album, still play it alot ! _________________ |
