I knew I was done with that board when after Hurricana Katrina, I started a thread about how much I love NOLA, and it turned into a 7 page political debate. OT here RE Christian metal, This has really puzzled me over the years. If People really want to preach the 'Word of God' thru music, why put a Vague cover art, vague song titles that can be 99 percent be mistaken as 'Not Christian' on the first glance and vocals that can be barely understood by a righteous(?) music listener? is it a self-defeating purpose? Is it to trick the average metal fan into liking a lyrical content that they hate?


Sorry for my ignorance, and Btw, I am also a Christian but I feel a certain form of oddity and awkwardness whenever I hear a Christian Death, Metalcore, unBlack or whatever... yeah I know, music is just a form of expression...Peace

I don't think most "Christian Metal" bands these days do it to "preach the 'word of God thru music'" as much as these guys just want to make the music they love. Naturally a certain amount of who they are and what they belief manifests itself one way or another in the lyrics. I guess it was different in the 80's and early 90's when these bands had to justify their motives in order to simply exist. But it has always seemed to me to be a stigma created from the fan community more than the artists themselves, with the obvious exceptions of groups who's lyrics are blatantly evangelizing.

But I could be wrong... its happened before.

The thing I find funny is how many people get the REAL Anonymous confused with the child porn & anti scientology idiots on 4chan.... I've met two guys who are a part of anonymous and they can't stand those idiots that run around with the guy fawkes masks, hacking everything that has anything to do with "religion" etc.... I just think it's sad that a site like CMR was targeted for such exploits.

On the other hand, CMR's demise is what led me here, and even though I'm a "Christian" I look forward to many great discussions and awesome interactions here in these forums, as metal is a broad term, and I love pretty much all of it except for death and screamo.

I grew up with the old school. From Megadeth to Metallica, King Diamond and beyond.... and yes, I even listen to Stryper and White Cross, Barren Cross, etc... I hope this forum is as rocking as the CMR was!

Well i was really late going on CMF, it wasn't bad at all maybe all the negative people left ages before i signed up? Oh well its lame it was hacked, pretty immature for any reason. Guess i'll start here.

I have been a member of the CMR since it's inception in 2001. I think it's lame that people do stupid stuff like this. The CMR has meant a lot to me and many other people over the years. I'm sorry that some of you here have had a bad experience there. I have had many bad experiences there... but that tends to happen when you associate with people.

I mostly lurk here at HOM, but I am thankful for this place too! I hope to see all the regulars at the new board.

I found my way here from the CMR. Have been on there for a few years and have never had any problems with anyone there or have even felt I was treated badly. I've noticed some people here are used to be there but aren't anymore. Unfortunate because I personally try to be tolerant of others regardless of religious/political/etc beliefs.

Anyway, glad to be here. I enjoy the "Complete Works" section.
