This is happening with bands more and more these days, with one member requesting or trying to steal more than their deserved share. Shame, really.

It's because the money is drying up and it causes one to evaluate what is truly deserved.

Could they tour with a new drummer (who gets paid only a salary) and make just as much money?  Yes.

Oh, definitely. But Chris Robinson doesn't deserve more than Rich. I don't know how much the drummer contributed musically, but Rich wrote just as much as Chris.

Still, the drummer has been in the band for 28 years; kind of shitty to try to take away from that.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the drummer did alot of the business end and promotional stuff for the band. Almost like what Mike Portnoy did with Dream Theater. He did alot of the behind-the-scenes type of work. As for what he contributed musically to the band, I have no idea.

So sure, they could force him out or make him a salaried-employee and carry on, but like Eyesore said, it's a sh*tty thing to do with someone that's been with you 28 years.

We'll only know so much as to what's really going on, but so far it sounds like Chris is being the prick here and Rich has had enough.

Been following the band since their debut and always thought that it was the other way around with those two. As far as I have read/heard, Gorman was also the buffer between the bros as well.

I remember seeing them on their first headlining tour at the Omni in Berkley(what sketchy neighborhood that place was in. Hubba City!!!!) with The Four Horsemen opening for them. They played The Cabaret in San Jose the night before(?). My buddy was such a BC nut that we went and hung out at the venue(it was 21 & over) and he managed to sneak in and be mistaken for part of the crew for a short while, then he got out of there before he got caught. We later met Johnny Colt and Jeff Cease after The Cabaret show. Cool times!

I've seen 'em 4 or 5 times myself over the years. They were a long time favorite of mine up till a few years ago. Around the time Lions came out I guess. Started to lose interest in them, but continued to buy the albums in hopes something would rekindle the fire. Nothing really jumped out for me though.

I always liked these guys, but preferred them as a live act, their studio albums never captured truly what they sounded like live IMO
