Crying or Very sad

Whether you are an avid reader or not, there is no denying he legendery status of this man. he was the embodiment of a writer. in fac, I am positive everyone. EVERYONE knows at least one Bradbury story. Be it that they read it, saw it on TV or saw a film loosely based upon it.

He was a profound influence on me, and I a sure countless other writers.

Sad day indeed.

RIP Mr. Bradbury.

To be honest, I thought he died a couple years ago. Fahrenheit 451, Martian Chronicles and Something Wicked This Way Comes are the Bradbury works I'm most familiar with.

RIP.

BTW, I know his works were also adapted for TV shows like Twilight Zone.

EDIT: And I thought I remembered he had his own TV anthology series.

Quote :
From 1985 to 1992 Bradbury hosted a syndicated anthology television series, The Ray Bradbury Theater, for which he adapted 65 of his stories. Each episode would begin with a shot of Bradbury in his office, gazing over mementoes of his life, which he states (in narrative) are used to spark ideas for stories. During the first two seasons, Bradbury also provided additional voiceover narration specific to the featured story and appeared on screen.

This is the kind of scary stuff I can get into. Pure suspense and often reflecting on ourselves, one of the greats. RIP.

His story Fever Dream was the inspiration for the Overthrow song Infection.

Same here but I did know he was quite proficient. We lost a legendary writer.

I became a fan of Bradbury when I read "The Fog Horn" short story as a youngster. That story was later used as the inspiration for the film "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms".

Bradbury himself said that the only "true" science fiction story he ever wrote was Fahrenheit 451, he said all of his other stories were Fantasy.

I never did read any of his books, but he has my respect. I did skim through Fahrenheit 451 back in high school when I had to do a book report on it. The secret is to read the back cover and the last page and quote random lines you find by flipping through pages:

"It's an excellent read for fans of [insert genre]. It tells the story of [insert summary from back cover]. The protagonist goes through a rollercoaster ride that includes [come up with something based on chapter titles].

So many powerful scenes like when [insert random line from book] and [...another random line].

The ending leaves you thinking of [well, you did read the last page or two].

Come up with some sort of opinion on writing style.

I personally really thought it helps you understand [insert random generic crap about books and reading and your teacher will love you] better."

As an added bonus, fifteen years later, I can still kind of quote lines from the book as if I really read it. Because if you read a book, you cannot remember every line of it. But if you only read 4 or 5 lines, you can actually quote those lines word for word.

You can do that in 20 minutes max. Then you're free to go and smoke pot.

You did good, Ray. Taught the world about scifi, and at least one person how to write essays about books they never really read. Rest in peace.

Yesterday I had 4 books arrive home, and one of them was Fahrenheit 451. Then this morning on the drive to work I hear of his death. Weird timing I guess. RIP.
