Looks like some of the refs are LFL rejects - they were fired from the Lingerie Football League due to poor performance.....

From USA Today:

The football world is ablaze today after the Monday night fiasco in Seattle seemingly cost the Green Bay Packers a victory.

Such an apparently erroneous outcome would not have occurred in an, um, "outfit" like the Lingerie Football League, which supremely values its integrity and officials ... this according to the Lingerie Football League, which claimed in a press release last night:

"Because of the LFL's perception it is that much more critical for us to hire officiating crews that are competent, not only for the credibility of our game but to keep our athletes safer. Due to several on-field incompetent officiating we chose to part ways with with a couple crews which apparently are now officiating in the NFL. We have a lot of respect for our officials but we felt the officiating was not in line with our expectations. We have not made public comment to date because we felt it was not our place to do so. However in light of tonight's event, we felt it was only fair that NFL fans knew the truth as to who are officiating these games."

What happens when a football games gets out of control? Everyone dives onto the pile.

What happens when the NFL opens itself up to deserved criticism? Same thing.

I think what annoys me more than the blown calls is that every other play seems to require a ref conference. Damn games are taking 30 minutes longer than usual and it not only makes it drag from an entertainment point of view but it also totally disrupts any momemtum the teams might develop.

This.

You know....I don't mean to sound like this, but so be it.

You are an idiot. So you pull out a similiar play to make your case and think that makes sense. No sir.

The Seahawks were given 3 chances, first on that interception that was nullified bc of the horrible roughing the passer call, second on that awful pass interference call when it was 1st and 30 for the Hawks, and finally the one that cost them the game. Everyone knows that was an interception and it was much more clear than the play your referencing.

The normal refs make mistakes too, but c'mon this is ridiculous.

Oh, and let's not forget the most blatant push off Golden Tate did on that play too.
\

Where did i say it was right? It's funny.

How about Woodson's mugging on the Seahawks 3 plays before that? Or the PI that lead to the Packers last td? How about the other 10 crappy calls in that game. How about babbling on and on about Jim Harbaugh getting 5 timeouts against the Vikings in one half Sunday? They're not crying about that. This is media hype and spin ebcause it was Monday night, The Pack were playing and they have fake refs. It's just another crappy call. The other refs aren't better, they're just less worse.

I've been watching the packers get calls for years. Now their fans want to protest and boycott and talk about the integrity of the game. Nobody talked about integrity of the game when in 2002 the refs miss 9 calls and 8 in the 4th quarter in a Vikes packers game in lamblow. The next day the NFL sent a letter to the team saying sorry and sent the refs packing. 8 wrong calls against the Vikings in one 4th quarter. Where was the integrity $hit then?

So before you go running off at the mouth, and calling names, know where a person is coming from before you run your trap, Buttdart.

I apologize for calling you an idiot. I became a little emotional and I am sorry for that.

Say what you want, but at the end of the day, The Pack should have won the game. They dominated the second half and deserved to win. And I'm sorry, but if this happened to your team, you would be saying the same thing and do not pretend you wouldn't be. I know the Vikings hate the Pack and vice versa, but c'mon you know it's crap.

And you can keep bringing up games from 2002 of saying the Pack gets this and that and the other, but in the end two wrongs do not make a right and they were screwed.

Again, I'm sorry for the name calling. Oh, and it's not funny.

Yep, it has happened, to us against the Pack, on a few occasions. You know what Packers fans tells us? Deal with it. They didn't deal with it. They protested and threatened to boycott. Cried and cried and cried some more. There were 15 bad calls in that game.

BTW, You must not know me, because the people who do know me, know I'm never ever going to feel sorry for the Packers. This is just karma to me. The real refs have favored them for years, and the scab refs didn't. It was a wonderful 3 weeks.

Fair enough. You may hate the Pack all you like. Honestly though, what would you expect them to do? I mean obviously they are going to complain about it. They are competitors and they want to win and it was taken away on the last play. Any team would have been complaining methinks.

This is the first time I've ever really ran into anybody who hated the Packers so this is different for me.

I'm gonna chime in here real quick and say I agree with Rich on the Pack. I've gotten really sick and tired of them and their overbearing fans who think football was invented by the Pack.. I know I'd be pissed if what happened to them happend to my team but I gotta say I chuckled when I saw it.

I've never "hated" a sports team, I mean really, what's the point? But I have seriously disliked the fans of specific teams. (Cowboys, Redskins, Giants pop immediately to mind, the redneck quotient is seriously high)

I think all teams attract idiot fans anymore. I went to a Seahawks game and some of the comments were beyond stupid. Get a couple beers in some guy with more belly then brains and they think they can play better then the guys on the field.

Oh, I like the Cowboys but I know what you mean.

"Hate" is a strong word, but when you "hate" a sports team, I think that is much better than hating an actual person. I look at it like good guys and villains. To me, there is no other reason to be a sports fans. You cheer for teams, and you hate the rival. That makes it fun. Went I went to lamblow field, the Packer fans were great. I had a blast. with the exception of one dick, everybody was great to me, and we spent a few days there. I'd visit again in a minute.

But I hate the Packers. Bears and Lions too.

Screw 'em. But I wouldn't have liked if last Monday happened to the Bears or Lions. But it happening to the Pack was sweet, sweet karma. Loved it.

Cowboys fans were some of the nicest fans I've met when I went to that stadium. Biggest jerks were Bucs fans . But I wouldn't generalize any group of fans. Hell, I can't stand a lot of Vikings fans.

This is weird to me because the Packers have always seemed to be a likable team. Obviously, fans of the Bears, Vikings, and Lions would hate the Pack and that makes sense.

But fans with no real rivalries with the Pack don't seem to have a problem with them. I'm talking from my experiences.

Also, Big Rich I'm jealous you have been to Lambeau Field. It is my dream to watch a game there.

The only team I really "hate" is the Ravens. I strongly disliike the Steelers and Vikings.

I don't know, can one not generalize when it pertains to the fan base in various markets? You already mentioned that you had a great experience at Lambeau Field amongst Packers fans, with the exception of one fan. Now, go to New York and watch either the Giants or the Jets, Chicago to watch the Bears, or worst yet Philadelphia to watch the Eagles. See if you have that same type of experience. That number one will easily multiply ten fold.

I've been there in 1998 against the 49'ers and in 2000 against the Colts, both wins for the Pack!

I also think a lot of how you are treated is how you act, no matter where you are. Also, I think it's a good idea to try to get tickets in the season ticket holders sections. The people are used to the games, and you're less likely to get a drunk moron living his dream, and drinking too many beers in the parking lot.

And sure, there might be more jerks in Philly, but it's not the whole fanbase. You can't generalize any group of people.

I personally dislike the Jets quite a bit, but that is because Rex Ryan won't shut his fat mouth and that rivalry thing with the Patriots doesn't help their cause either. lol!

I think a good rivalry with hate between the fans and even the players can bring out the best in them.
Not Football but when i think back to that awesome rivalry between the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado Avalanche in the 90's, it was awesome. There was so much hate and dislike which turned into every player giving their best tryint to beat that hated opponent.

I think that's one thing, most american sports miss: real rivalries that go on for decades and centuries, it makes those games more exciting to watch, there's so much emotion involved when you face that hated opponent and want to beat him. Even if you're just a fan.

Here in Munich we have that rivalry between 1860 Munich and FC Bayern, it goes on for 112 years now and it's not just on match days but the fans constantly dislike each other, to the point that always play pranks. Like some years ago some fans of FC Bayern painted part of the old footballstadium (where the 1860 fans are usually located) in a red color. As a counter-attack, 1860 fans painted part of the FC Bayern Headquarter blue.
As long as there's no violence involved, rivalries and hate are a good thing. Sadly fans tend to violence (England is still the prime example of Hooligans and violence around the stadium)

I think reason why there are rarely any real rivalries in US Sports are the constant relocation of teams, teams vanishing and i think that in the mind of US Sportscasters and maybe even the fans, a rivalry only exists between two top teams fighting for the trophy and once one team falls to the ground, the rivalry is over (what happened between the Red Wings and the Avalanche wants they started to suck)

As for the referees:
I think that game gets blown way out of proportions. You can find stupid referees in every sport everywhere around the world. Referees are just humans, humans make mistakes. The NHL has at least one match per week where referees make big mistakes. Same goes for Football/Soccer here in Europe (the best example should still be the World Cup Qualifying Match between France and Ireland, the refs gave a goal that wasn't one, i lead to France instead of Irelang going to the FIFA World Cup 2010)

I couldn't disagree with you more regarding the lack of rivalries in the U.S. I guarantee you we have more rivalries here in this country then anywhere in the world and by far. Here is a list of all the trophies that they play for in DIV I college football between certain schools, and that's college football. It would take me weeks to delve into other college rivalries in other sports and of course all of the pro sports.

Actually the referee thing didn't get blown out of proportion as it pertains to the NFL situation. The "Replacement" referees were your basic bottom of the barrel referees that the NFL hired. These were guys that had high school, junior college & DIV III experience. Like I stated on Facebook with a friend of mine, this would be the equivalent of the Harvard Crimson firing all of their faculty and replacing them with local high school and junior college professors. The "Replacement" referees were so over their heads, it wasn't funny.

Europeans are generally unaware that college football actually exists and thus are ignorant that, at one point, college football far eclipsed the NFL in popularity. They are definitely unaware of the 100+ year old rivalries and cherished traditions that exist in the college game. Also, the NHL has never been popular in the US, regardless of what some people think.

Haha. No excuse, but the injuries didn't help. The D has a lot of problems and the O just isn't as sharp as last year.

They gotta get their stuff together soon bc the Vikes and Bears are 4-1.

Also, can the Browns please win a game soon.

I'm not saying it was an excuse. I'm just saying it didn't help. They should have won the game. You can't blow an 18-pt lead. There is no excuse for that.

I also think you need to quit whining about the Packers whining. Very Happy
