Haven't listened yet. I suspect more of the same. I like the guy and all, but he's been kind doing the same thing for a few albums now. I still dig it, but I wish he'd change it up a bit.

But we'll see...

I went on a field trip into town today with a coupla co-workers. They hit the comic book shop, I went to the music shop. Came out with these...

Betty Blowtorch - Are You Man Enough?
The Hidden Hand/Wolly Mammoth - Night Letters
Muse - Showbiz
Muse - Hullabaloo
Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn
Pride & Glory - s/t (re-issue w/bonus disc)*
Soundgarden - Down on the Upside

*I already had the original, but for $1.99, I couldn't resist the bonus covers disc.

I thought the last one was a little heavier than usual.

Yeah, maybe. I do have that one downloaded, but I haven't bought it yet, which means I probably haven't listened to it much. This is why I'm not a fan of downloading. Haha.

But a couple weeks ago I downloaded the 20 track HIM best of from Amazon for 2.99. I think I'm becoming more of a download fan.

Well this was a pleasant surprise.

A represenative from Relapse Records contacted us at work and sent a bunch of cds for consideration. I'm not sure what he hopes to accomplish with this kind gesture, as the music he sent has almost zero chance of being played in the arena. But we'll play along for now and hope he keeps sending free cds.

In the meantime, I get to reap the benefits by getting the cast-offs:

Disfear - Live the Storm
Kingdom of Sorrow - s/t
Baroness - Blue Record
Baroness - Yellow & Green
High on Fire - Blessed Black Wings
Toxic Holocaust - An Overdose of Death
Mastodon - Remission
Mastodon - Leviathan
Royal Thunder - CVI
Red Fang - Murder the Mountains
Alabama Thunderp*ssy - Open Fire
Zeke - 'Til the living End

It's funny because back in the day Document was by far my least favorite of theirs (outside of It's The End Of The World...). Green was my favorite. Today I really can't stand Green but Document is now one of my faves along with Fables Of Reconstruction. It's like I can trace my musical maturity/open-mindedness over time by going backwards into REM's catalogue. The deluxe edition of Life's Rich Pageant has a great cover of Toys In The Attic. I still need to get that.

From gohastings

get to finally take that Leeway off the want list. Now I need the first one to turn up.

Eh, it's ok. It's a little more coarse than I figured. I don't know what I expected with band members named Bianca Butthole and Blair N. B*tch, but there was allot of cussing that caught me off-guard on the first spin. And the appearance of Vanilla Ice threw me for a loop too.

It was only $1.99, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I've got allot of new stuff to go through at the moment, so it was one-and-done for now. I'll come back to it and see if anything grabs me.

Guess not. I'm turning more and more into an old curmudgeon by the day. If you listen carefully, you can actually hear the hair starting to sprout out of my ears.

This one didn't do much for me either. I just checked Amazon and I bought this over 5 years ago and I can't remember a damn thing about it which tells me it didn't impress me.
