The Life Aquatic (2004, Wes Anderson)

After seeing the excellent Moonrise Kingdom this year it has inspired me to go back and watch all of Wes Anderson's film, easily one of the most unique directors working today.

Been watching back to back episodes of "What The Ancients Knew" on Science channel.

Began with Chinese, then India, Greek, Japanese, and now Egyptians.
Interesting stuff.

wonder if they knew that the guy playing Hulk in The Avengers was better than Norton and Banna ?

Love that movie!

Hammer films were able to be simultaneously campy, creepy and classy, an entertaining combination. Christopher Lee will always be my favorite Dracula, I've been watching those movies since 1979 or so and never get tired of them.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows - too bad the plot was left in the shadows too. Easily forgettable film that was OK to pass the time, but that's about it.

The Life Aquatic (2004, Wes Anderson)

A top ten all-time for me. Not many movies I'd consider perfect from beginning to end. Life Aquatic is one of them. Moonrise Kingdom was great too.

Clearing out the dvr of stuff from VH1 Classic...

Which One Is Pink? The Pink Floyd Story

Had forgotten that Richard Wright had passed. So that was sad. Also didn't care for the fact that they kind of buried the Animals record as Roger Waters just going off on society.

Currently watching the AFC Wild Card game. Talk about a game I couldn't care less about; Houston or Cincinnatti? Eh...

With the young'uns tonight:

"G-Force" (2009)

Kiddie action flick from Disney in which a top secret team of FBI-trained talking guinea pigs (!) investigate a madman's plan to take over the world by controlling of all the appliances on earth. (Yes, really.)

Produced by action-movie guru Jerry Bruckheimer, it's just as fast paced (and mindlessly silly) as his films for grown-ups, with impressive CGI, plenty of dumb jokes, and a decent voice cast including Jon Favreau, Penelope Cruz and Steve Buscemi. My boys thought it was a hoot and I found it relatively painless, which is all you can ask from a kid's movie.
