No, not Most Valuable Player.

Collectors, what is the Most Valued Possession in your music collection? Is it a pricey collectible or just one of sentimental value? What is the one thing, a record, cd, signed photo, whatever, that you wouldn't part with for all the tea in China?

If my house ever catches fire, these are goin' in my pocket on my way out the door:

My cassette insert from the Ramones' Mondo Bizarro signed by all four Ramones

My copy of Raven's Destroy All Monsters: Live in Japan CD autographed by all three band members

I don't have many that fit these criteria but one would probably "Somewhere There's A Place For Us" by Radio Stars.

Long story short, this was a power/punk band I used to hear on a certain underground radio program back in the late 70s. I bought their vinyl albums at a local headshop right away. Finding anything by them on CD was one of my first holy grails ever. About 10 years ago I got in contact with a record store owner in the UK (I forget how I found him) who said he had a Best Of Radio Stars CD that he'd sell me. I took a gamble and sent the guy a check. After several weeks of holding my breath, one day while my parents were visiting me, I went out to get my mail and lo and behold there it was. I must have had a shiteating grin plastered to my face when I opened the apartment door because my Mom said something like "Good news I take it?"

Of course since then both their albums have been released on CD (and I've bought them) but I'll always have a special memory of the thrill I had when I got that CD in the mail.

My signed copy of Stanley Turrentine's Comin' Your Way CD. I saw his performance at Jazz Alley (Seattle) in the late 90s and was able to hang out and talk with him for a little while after the gig. He passed away about 3 months later, so I'm very happy for the experience.

My signed copy of Steve Taylor's Meltdown. He signed if for me when i was working a show for him. Lots of sentimental value.

My (too small for me now) Pantera-Heavy Metal Rules Tour 1984 baseball jersey w/ red sleeves and Pantera-Rock The World 1988 t shirt. Both sentimental headbanger I also have three unopend copies of the first 4 (Metal Magic Records ) Pantera albums.

The laminated badge from April/May of 1985 when I auditioned for Great White. The closest I ever got to so called fame. Laughing very hard

The No Rest For The Wicked tour program (whatever year that was) I got and got signed courtesy of the CBS backstage pass I had. Was very surreal meeting the Ozzman and getting to talk with and meet Zac, Geezer, and of course the late great Randy Castillo.

On the March of the Saint tour getting hand shakes and heavy metal hugs from the band and a noogie from Dave Prichard.

And more recently meeting and getting photos and autographs from Lizzy Bordon, Michael Monroe.

I had to think about it for awhile, but it is more sentimental then valuable, it would be my AC/DC Back In Black, given to me by one of my ex girlfriends who has since passed away. The shirt is basically a rag but I wear it all the time around the house.

I was thinking long and hard about the topic myself and I'm coming up with bupkis.

The only reason I even came up with the idea was over the weekend, while I was filing away a stack of cds with my son, I jokingly said to him "One day, all this will be yours and you can sell it for $100 bucks and buy some new sneakers or something."

I suppose when MicK Mars finally drops, my signed Motley poster and Too Fast For Love cd booklet might be of value.

I really can't think of any particular item. Perhaps the signed Dee Snider photo, and the Savatage 8X10

I've clicked on this thread several times and can't think of any one particular thing. I have a few custom framed items and records that are autographed to me personally that I wouldn't trade or sell for the world. My wife and I have had this discussion on several occasions. I tell her how much some record, poster, print, etc. is worth, she replies that it's not worth anything because I will never sell it. Haha.

I have a fairly large collection (approx 2,600) but I really can't think of one thing that's my most valuable. If I had to pick, it would be my copies of Overdrive's Metal Attack and Swords & Axes personally autographed to me by the entire band. Janne Stark sent them to me.

My Megadeth - Warchest and Ultimatum's Heart of Metal box set. Not that either one is particularly valuable but both have a bit of sentiment attached.

My Riff Raff - Give The Dead Man Some Water. Much like Toho it was tracking down a copy overseas and hoping.

I have an Eric B. & Rakim 1988 Ain't No Joke tour shirt that I've never worn. As a teenager I hung it on a hanger on my wall. One of those cool nostalgia items that takes me back to time and place. Had a guy offer me 200.00 one time for it sight unseen. From what I can gather that may have been a low ball offer.

The Connells Hats Off ep that they put out themselves before they were signed to TVT. Peele the drummer snagged a copy from one of the Connell brothers and sent it to me. Really cool dude. And since he couldn't get the swiped record signed by everyone he also sent a signed poster. Lost that in a basement flood sadly.

I'd rather let my wife think that all of my noisy metal stuff is worthless, so the topic of selling it never comes up. Very Happy

Value wise the MVP of my collection is Metallica - Kill 'Em All original cd press by megaforce records. Found it at FYE for $10 and noticed it looked different than anyother press i had ever seen so i bought it and when i got home did some research and discovered it can sell for over $300.

As for sentinmental value, i value my entire collection as it makes me happy and relieves stress in my life. Music is my life.

Just realized that Slaughter's Surrender Or Die is listed for some crazy amount. I think I paid five for it. At least it has taken over the Breakin 2 Soundtrack for my most money valued disc.

My mom grew up with Tommy James in Niles MI. I have a bunch of stuff from him.
