Lynyrd Skynyrd - I would like to find every existing copy of Sweet Home Alabama and erase it from existence.

Bruce Springsteen - The song Born To Run is one of the worst songs ever written by anyone in the history of the world.

Skynyrd being one of my fav bands EVER... Sweet Home Alabama BLOWSSSSSS!!!

Oppositely, I think that Born to Run is one of the best songs ever written. I'm a huge Springsteen fan, and like other Springsteen fans, I certainly worship at the altar of his non-radio hits, but Born to Run is the best to my ears and worthy of every piece of air time it has received since 1975.

I guess in this line of thinking, Led Zeppelin are counted among the artists I just don't get into. I mean, it goes without saying that things like Limp Bizkit, 311, Creed, all those bands are the worst stuff the music world has come up with. So it's more fun for people to talk about why they don't like Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix or Judas Priest...because odds are, many of us on this board do like one or all of those artists. Chances are, most of us do not listen to 311 on the regular.

So Led Zeppelin gets my vote. I just never got the appeal, and I will change the station if they come on. And it's not just radio hits. I have never listened to their whole catalog (why would I?), but over the years, before really determining that there is nothing I am going to like, I have bought a few albums. LZ 1 and 4, for sure, and maybe 2? And then also...Swan Song, maybe? The one where the LP was in a paper bag sleeve over the actual sleeve.

None of those did a thing for me.

There are a few Springsteen songs that I like, but something about Born To Run is like nails on chalkboard, it just makes me want to smash things.

I generally don't like anything "southern", "Americana" or "Blue collar working man rock".

sick

although, Skynyrd did pull off some very tasty segments with the three-guitar setup. It's when they get into "honky tonk" mode ................ sick

The only southern rock band I can stomach is The Allman Brothers when Duane was still alive. Those guys had some crazy jazz/fusion chops which keeps me interested.

Bob Dylan actually means alot to me, while we are at. When my father was dying, I went to his 'Time Out of Mind' album for solace. It was an album filled with the specter of death, aging, acceptance and an album filled with real human experiences.

You can go on and on and on how you some of you hate Bob Dylan, but his music not only made my loss more bareable but also gave it a degree of understanding the nature of loss.

Shadows are falling and Iíve been here all day
Itís too hot to sleep, time is running away
Feel like my soul has turned into steel
Iíve still got the scars that the sun didnít heal
Thereís not even room enough to be anywhere
Itís not dark yet, but itís getting there

Well, my sense of humanity has gone down the drain
Behind every beautiful thing thereís been some kind of pain
She wrote me a letter and she wrote it so kind
She put down in writing what was in her mind
I just donít see why I should even care
Itís not dark yet, but itís getting there

One of my sons is named Dylan in partical honor to the man. Its not hero worship, but the impact he had music and culture is incredibly huge, he marched with Dr King, etc, but at the end of the day, its about the music and impact it makes on you, and to me, the music of Dylan has personal connection to me.

311 may be better then I give them credit for, so many bands co-opted their sound, I have a hard time listening to them.

Everything I like means a ton to me for often a lot of personal reasons, so I don't take it as another personal thing if someone else may not, it's all good. Razz

I think you were right with your initial assessment. I know mainstream rock radio could never be held accountable for throwing crappy bands and music out to the masses--but I still cannot fathom how this band ever became popular.

I am not taking it personally, especially from a guy who runs around on stage wearing a cape

The album Oh Mercy has such a personal resonance with me. Just something about that time and place in my life when I first came to hear it and the effect it had. I really didn't give two cares for Dylan till then. I'm not even sure how I even came to hear it the first time. But did it ever have an impact. And one that has gotten stronger over time. I'm a Dylan fan but no one album hits me like Oh Mercy.

With Skynyrd and Springsteen it's the non-hits that haven't been played to death that I'm into. Both have some killer album tracks IMO. Not that big on Born To Run but do I ever love the live acoustic version.

My god that 311 song is awful!! (One good thing about being from this side of the pond is that I had never heard of them before, so thanks for that! angry†)

Not Dire Straits awful, but really, really awful all the same.

Ironically, the only people that I know that like 311 are current or reformed pot-heads and coincidentally Sublime as well...

Neither have I. I love me some groove as well, but I much prefer the Suicidal Tendencies variety personally. I have heard sublime and have 2 albums by them that I had gotten in the hope to see what the hype is all about and I personally, just don't get it. More power to ya brother, they are just not my scene.

I'm a big Sublime fan - and never done a drug. But admittedly those like me and MetalRob are the exception and not the rule.

311 I could never get. I dug the song "Don't Stay Home" but everything else I ever heard did nothing for me.

If I don't dig on a band, it usually comes after hearing a tune or two at best. Don't waste time going any further to even contemplate whether or not I "hate" them.

What I really hate is when a band that you hate has that one glorious moment when you have to admit that the song is great, really great!

This happened to me with

and

I still can't stand either band though.
