I've always thought that Life of Brian was Python's best.

+1. Holy Grail was a riot, but it took me six hours to finish Life of Brian simply due to laughing so hard and having to pause it. I believe it may be the funniest movie ever made. Should have been on my list. Shame.

Dazed & Confused-lived it ten years later

Tombstone-my favorite western, & very quotable

Aliens-you'd be surprised how often you can use "Let's just nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure" in polite conversation. Another very quotable movie, just like...

The Big Lebowski- "hey man, there's a beverage back here", I'm starting to see a pattern

Saving Private Ryan-over all maybe not better than some of the classics, but how they shot the combat scenes was intense

Romero's Dawn of the Dead-Introduced me to the glory of the zombie apocalypse

Friday-another quote-fest, I wanna be Smokie when I grow up

Fight Club-Tyler Durden spoke to me. I would like to subscribe to his newsletter

Kelly's Heroes-WWII & bank robbery, what's not to love

Jackson's LOTR- Epic! Years of D&D campaigns & Drizz't books brought to life, although most of the finger-wagglers I played would have kicked Gandalf's ass. What was he, like 6th level?

Star Wars IV-VI-'nuff said. The prequels were doomed from the start when they hired mannequins to play the two leads, let alone the lame plot. But then again, don't get me started on the Empire's best troops(501st Legion), with state of the art body armor & walkers, getting routed by teddy bears using rocks & sticks

The Black Hole has a fantastic music score (the brilliant John Barry), some nice ship designs (the Cygnus is amazing) and some fairly creepy sequences (the funeral). But it's also painfully bad in many other areas. I have fond memories of it because I saw it in the theater when I was 9 years old, but I gotta say that watching now I end up cringing through large sections of the film. Basically every performance is either the actor essentially sleepwalking through the film...or over-acting to the point of ridiculousness.

I still give it props for the batshit crazy ending, in 1979 that was some wild shit for Disney.

I saw Black Hole in the theater too - haven't seen it in years, I wonder how it will hold up...

I can't really pick an all time favorite film, but one I can re-watch over and over:

The Empire Strikes Back - never get tired of this one! By far, the best of the Star Wars movies. I can easily re-watch Star Wars/Return as well, but Empire is the film that set the bar for all sequels.

Back To The Future - best of the three (still enjoy the other three, but this one is a classic)

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure - Never get tired of this one! Recently picked it up on Blu-Ray

Super Troopers - very quotable. Throw out a line and anyone that has seen it knows exactly what you mean (i.e. "Liter of Cola", meow game). You can also throw Beer Fest in with that also - the best two Broken Lizard films.

Fight Club - Thought I would hate it (not a Brad Pitt fan at all), but loved it

Inception - Nolan's best flick, easily re-watchable.

Star Trek 2 - the best Star Trek flick ever, classic villain

The Maltese Falcon - Does it get any more "classic" than this one? I don't think so

Duck Soup - classic comedy

Others:
Batman (1989), Dr. No - You Only Live Twice, Aliens, Raiders Of The Lost Ark (the original), Superman/Superman II, Airplane, The Shining, Dawn Of The Dead (1978), Pulp Fiction, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, Goodfellas...

I am sure their are others I am forgetting

My brother was obsessed with The Black Hole when we were kids.  Thing played on an endless loop at our house.  Between that and my obsession with Freaky Friday/Apple Dumpling Gang/Gus, my poor parents.  I still have the vinyl of the soundtrack somewhere.  I never did get tired of that.

Some of my all-time favorites

-The Best Years Of Our Lives - how this isn't mentioned as one of the best ever I'll never know.

-Flash Gordon - seriously, saw it in the theater multiple times and to this day still love it.

-The General - All Buster Keaton is gold to me.  This was my intro and it is a must see.

-The Warriors - Another one that has stood the test of time for me.

-Return Of The Living Dead - I remember seeing the trailer for this ahead of Weird Science and I became as excited to see any movie as I ever had been.  And it delivered ten fold.  Still does.

-Zodiac - Could watch this one endlessly.  And I'm not a fan of procedurals.

-Cinema Paradiso - Had an art teacher back in the day who would turn us kids onto some good stuff.

-The Great Escape - The perfect movie IMO

-Evil Dead 2 - Yeah I like the slapstick in my humor.  Work Shed!

-Under The Boardwalk - My favorite video store dollar day discovery.

-Up The Creek - The all-star movie of 80's comedies.

-Hollywood Shuffle - Cookiehead Jenkins!  Still quote this today.

-Can't Buy Me Love - With apologies to John Hughes, greatest teen movie bar none IMO.  Tragic Amanda Peterson didn't become a huge star.

-DR. Strangelove - Another perfect movie in my estimation.

with countless others that will come to me the second I post this.

T2 used to be my all-time favorite action film...until I recently revisited it. Strange seeing old favorites through more mature eyes. Still a great film, but as much as I idolized Linda Hamilton then, now I realize she's a huge detriment with all her non-acting and faux-machismo going on. And she's not as foxy as I remember her to be. Plus some of that dialogue is pretty damn stilted, while Furlong's cracking voice gets under my skin. But at least the action scenes and direction still hold up. Cameron knows how to make a good-looking movie.

Most movies I like are for nostalgic reasons. It's probably just the memories from that time.

I love all the Pixar flicks too - including the sequels. Toy Story 2 is another film that sets the bar for sequels. And that one was originally going to be a direct to video sequel!

A classic.  That one needs a special edition release.

In that same vein another from that time frame I love is Night Of The Comet.

I saw "The Black Hole" in the theatre when I was a kid. I was traumatized by that evil red robot "Maximilian," especially when he killed Anthony Perkins with the spinning blades. On the big screen he looked like he was fifty feet tall. Very Happy

I haven't seen that in years. Pretty cool flick from what little I remember.

When I was in high school I read a bunch of the book series ("The Destroyer") the movie was based on. Fun stuff.
