| You're going to be waiting for nearly 10 years then. At this point, Brooks plans to have at least 9 books in the current series connecting Word & Void with Shannara. Plus he's gonna do another Landover book somewhere in there. And technically, Landover is also part of Word & Void/Shannara since it's something of an altiverse to the real world (Word & Void), or our world.
I've got one more Martin book to read and then I'll read the Elves of Cintra, the latest Salvatore book, and the latest Ken Follett book. I would encourage you to pick up the new series sooner, my friend. |

| Well his last trilogy (High Druid Of Shannara) was completed a while back so I will go on to them. But I have to wait for the current trilogy to be complete because I hate cliffhangers and I go through a book w/in a week. Also looking forward to see what book Warner Brothers puts into a movie (they bought the movie rights to the Shannara sereis). As a Brooks fan it looks like I have a LOT to look forward to. |

| I can't believe you have been discussing George RR Martin in this thread and I missed it. Obviously, I'm a fan. Besides ASOIAF and Fevre Dream, I would recommend The Armogeddon Rag. A novel about a rock band that is touring a concept album based on The Second Coming by Yates. For that matter, I'd recommend anything by GRRM. One of my favorite writers. |

I believe they just optioned Shannara, but nothing has come of it yet. Apparently scripts are being written for the Landover series, though. That worries me, though. It's a great series, but with a human-turned-shaggy dog as a main character, that has the potential to look really stupid. I guess they could lessen the dog characteristics so he looks like a human/dog mix and not a real dog. That would probably be better. |

I read in wikipedia (yeah I know they can be wrong sometimes) that Brooks is trying to get the script for Magic Kindom For Sale sold at this time. While Warner Bros. have purchased the movie rights for Shannara from him and are thinking about making the first movie based off of the Elfstones Of Shannara. At least thats what I've read. |

http://www.terrybrooks.net/movies.html That's the official word, I guess. Also, I was thinking about Brooks's current story arc and he doing three trilogies. The current is about the Great Wars and such, and then when this trilogy is done he's going to jump ahead a few hundred (or was it a thousand?) years. So when book three of this trilogy is released in August, you can read them then. |

| Just finished The Encyclopedia of Heavy Metal. Good read, but they left a lot out IMO. Just started a new one: Solomon's Builders (it's about the freemason's secret society in America) |

Exactly the same problem I had with it, but still rings around Hit Parader's encyclopedia of heavy metal issue (but what else does one expect from HP). |

| I am now on the 4th book in the Song Of Ice And Fire (or is it Fire and Ice?), A Feast for Crows. A Storm of Swords was simply ridiculous. I really do love and hate this series. |

Have you read it before? The Sword of Shannara takes a while to get going. Understandable, I think, being his first book. Great series, though. |

| Evymetal - I LOVE H.P. Lovecraft. I love his writing style and his love for archiac and antiquated things. I could leave his opinions on ethnic minorities....but I consider the source and the time it was written..... Eyesore - Martin will do that to you. DO NOT get attatched to ANYONE!!!! |
