Anyone like the music of the Itallian born classical violinist Niccolo Paganini ?
He was born on October 27th 1782.
 R.I.P.
Very curious story indeed - long black hair - crooked type nose -
Read about 6 - 7 books on him - there's even a few DVD's out,
A strange Hollywood movie from the 80's too - Klaus Kinski - wild portrayl - etc

Hell yeah! The original rock star!

His Violin Concerto No. 1 in D was the first classical piece I owned and fell in love with and it's still a favorite.

Here's the trailor for the movie -
I forgot just how dark and lonely the film was -
like an Edgar Allen Poe story !

By the way, I've seen the Kinski movie and can say with absolute certainty that it was not made in Hollywood.

I need to check out that movie. Apparently, though Kinski was always a little off and inclined to get TOO into his roles, he really went off the deep end and started to believe he WAS Paganini.

Paganini is the bomb.

My first exposure to his music was actually via Rachmaninoff and his "Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini", I loved that piece so much I started getting Paganini albums from the public library.

The definitive guitar interpretation of Caprice #24 by John Williams (guitarist).

New movie - same story gossip
Guy who plays the role - is kinda laid back and mellow -
wish he was darker and more brooding -
but it was a curious fun watch - impossible to capture -
and quite embelleshed - with various ideas from the writers/directors.

Recently I read about this Italian movie from the late '80s called "Paganini Horror" which picks up the "Paganini played the 'Devils Music'" ball and runs with it...

I guess this was a belated Italian attempt to jump on the heavy metal/horror bandwagon (ala "Trick or Treat," "Black Roses," etc.) - it's about an all-girl rock band who plan to record an old classical music piece they dug up in their rehearsal space, and pass it off as their own work. Of course, the music turns out to be a "lost" Paganini piece which summons the demonic, homicidal spirit of Paganini himself. Sounds like a hoot!
Unfortunately I have not been able to locate a copy of the film... I don't think it was ever released in the U.S., which is a bummer cuz I love some of director Luigi Cozzi's other schlocky work like "Alien Contamination" and the legendary "Star Crash" so I'd love to see this!
