That's a bummer. Moonraker was my first 007 movie, I was 9 years old when that came out. I've been a fan of the series ever since.

His first appearance as Jaws (The Spy Who Loved Me) is my favorite Roger Moore 007 and one of my favorites overall.

The Spy Who Loved Me was the first James Bond movie I saw in the theater.

1977 was a great summer for a 7 year old kid going to the theater: Star Wars, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, Smokey & The Bandit...thanks, Mom.

R.I.P. Mr Kiel.

Remember, I was 9 years old.  Very Happy I was all about Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and related space schlock at the time, and Moonraker was an obvious attempt to jump on that bandwagon.

When I first saw Moonraker, I had no clue who James Bond was, and I had no idea that the movie was part of a series that stretched back nearly 20 years at that point. All I knew was that the bad guys had a Death Star and dudes were shooting at each other with laser guns, which was enough for me. Laughing very hard

Nowadays it's more of a sentimental favorite....

Wow apparently he was hiking near hear and broke his leg, landing him in a Fresno hospital where he died from infection. I had no idea. Fond memories of his Bond role and some independent family films growing up. And Happy Gilmore of course. Seemed like a best guy. RIP.

Moonraker is a hoot, it has some great set pieces and also one of the best scores of the entire series, John Barry outdid himself on that film.

I would rank Moonraker higher than a lot of the other Bond films.

It's better than Octopussy, A View To A Kill, The Living Daylights, License To Kill...it's better than all the Brosnan films except for Goldeneye. I also think it's a better film than Live And Let Die and The Man With The Golden Gun.

In fact, I would rank it 3rd overall behind The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only in the Roger Moore series.

Moonraker is awful. Space Shuttles on the Moon? Come on man, those are low-earth orbit vehicles. Ugh.

Your comment shows you remember almost nothing about the film. At no point does anyone go to the moon...the moon doesn't figure into the plot at all. They blast off from earth, go into orbit and dock at a space station.

Derision works best if you've actually watched the movie you're bitching about. Laughing very hard

I would agree with you that it is the 3rd best Moore flick.... but I would rank For YOur Eyes Only higher than Spy... Eyes was also the first Bond flick I saw in a theater.... Rest of it, we disagree Wink .....

And RIP Jaws

I couldn't tell from the thousand times I've seen that episode lol!

I must've never paid attention to the credits with that one.

Now that's outside the box thinking right there. I'd put it above The Man With The Golden Gun for sure but not License To Kill. That's one of my favorites. I'm not sure how it stacks up to the others right now.

And he'll probably always be remembered as Jaws (rightfully so) but he played in so many things (mainly as monsters, henchmen, etc.)

That makes two of us.  I have the entire Twilight Zone series on DVD and usually pay scrupulous attention to the credits because so many future stars made an appearance but I missed that too.

Is it just me or didn't the X-Files completely rip off Kolchak?
