"Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014)

A wise-ass space pirate (Chris Pratt) teams up with a crew of intergalactic losers to help save the universe from destruction in 2014's biggest surprise hit. Tons of fun in the "Star Wars" vein. Rocket Raccoon is my new favorite action hero!

And now watched Indy defeat Denver rather handily. But I think NE will destroy the Colts.

Please, oh please, don't let the Super Bowl be New England vs Seattle; I'll end up watching Puppy Bowl again.

Yes that was rather hilarious. It was a good weekend for me since both Dallas and Baltimore lost. Now if we can just get the Patriots out of there. Go Colts ! (although  suspect the Pats will win)

Yeah we caught the last episode of the current season last night. Things are kind of dragging right now but it's still enjoyable, and I never tire of the period detail. Plus this episode introduced the concept of a radio (which I learned they called "wireless") which was fun.

Luther - A

Under the Skin - A-. Dazzling, esoteric sci-fi/art film crossover with Scarlett Johanssen as an alien picking up lonely men one to lure each into a trap to fulfill some sort of galactic mission. Sounds like a B movie but is in fact a deliberate and ambiguous plate of style with some amazing photography, a disturbing ambient score, and a distant, detached tone that I dig. And if you ever wanted to see Scarlett naked at length and in glorious detail, this movie was made for you. I'm surprised this didn't get slapped with an NC17. Puzzling yet provocative film.

American Idol with Adam Lambert as a judge.

Yeah I know it's popular to crap all over this show but tonight's episode featured Lambert re-doing his AI audition of "Bohemian Rhapsody".   Say what you want but the guy fronts Queen a lot better than Paul Rodgers did.

I think it's the first time the show had s former contestant act as a judge and I found it interesting.

I have not watched the show since my oldest daughter abandoned it a few years ago, but I have to agree about your comments regarding Lambert and Queen

I like the fact he respects the history of the song, but adds his own personality and twist to the songs. He is not up there fronting a tribute act but is fronting a band. By being his own man, his honoring the legacy of both Queen and Freddie Mercury

The Man In The High Castle (Amazon)

Part of Amazon's Pilot Series that debuted today, this is a beautifully filmed version of the famous Phillip K. Dick novel produced by Ridley Scott. The story posits that the Nazis and Japan won WWII and now the east coast is controlled by the Nazis and the west coast by Japan, with a "neutral zone" in the Rocky Mountains. Very high production values, excellent cast.

You can watch it for free on Amazon and if you review it then it increases the chances it will be picked up to series and more episodes will be made.
