Any fans of Borknagar out there!!! Discovered this band years ago on an MP3 bonus disc of Metal For The Masses and loved what I heard. Normally black metal is a bit of a turn off due to the satanic imagery, lack of song structure, annoying clean vocals (if any exists at all), and the over use of keyboards.

However, with this band the satanic imagery is replaced with nature and the cosmos, the guitars provide a lot of the melody, the keys are not as up front, and the vocals of current vocalist Vintersorg are a lot more pleasant than your typical screeches and clean vocals. The older albums contain all but the good vocals but I feel they outdid themselves with the awesome Empiricism and to a lesser extent Epic (the acoustic Origin is a little too strange to my ears from the few times I listened to it).

I like what I've heard of them quite well. Don't have anything by them though.

I have all of their albums, so I guess you can safely say I am a fan. I do like their earlier though. They need to get back to basics for the next release.

Thats exactly how I felt about Origin (the folksy album). The good news is that that was just an experimental album from them and the next release will be back to the sound they're known for. Even though I like Epic, I'm hoping it will be closer to the more catchy and melodic Empiricism. However, with Vintersorg on vocals I'm sure it will be good no matter what.

I've got most of their stuff, and like both the old stuff and new about equally. I really like the lyrical concepts, quite different from most black metal I listen to.

Isn't this band somehow related to Old Man's Child? I really like what I've heard of them too.

Two reasons for bringing this thread back. 1. It has been a while and I want to see if there are other fans of these guys since this was last seen. 2. I found an example of what they sound like for those who never heard them.

Couldn't put the video inside the post, the previous method doesn't work now it seems.

I don't own any of their albums, but I did have a couple mp3's of theirs back in the day. I remember liking it a lot!

I liked their older stuff. Mainly "The Olden Domain"! I pretty much lost interest after "The Archaic Course" album but recently heard Quintessence and was quite surprised.
