Anyone into Horror movies?  We're getting excited for October in our house so we've been streaming scary movies.  Most of them on Netflix suck, but we came across one that I felt was pretty decent.  It's directed by the same guy that did Insidious, the SAW's and the Conjurings.  I nearly had to sleep with the lights on after watching this.

Also, as a PSA, don't watch the Hollow, not to be confused with the Hallow. I've never had a movie infuriate me as much as this movie.

That looks pretty good.

Two things in horror movies nearly always creep me out, clowns and puppets.

I saw "Dead Silence" a couple of years ago - pretty good stuff.

Love horror flicks - on Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, wherever I can find'em. Keep an eye on the long running "Today I Watched" thread starting in October - my annual month-long Halloween season "Schlock-tober" marathon is a tradition 'round these parts.

I've got the one containing this little ditty queued up:

"Up the hilly mountain,
Down the rushy glen,
We dare not go a-hunting
For fear of little men."

I thought Deaf Silence was pretty good. Netflix is really hit or miss with me. I 'he found some decent little gems on there. I've also found some real stinkers.

I watch more stuff on YouTube than Netflix or Amazon combined nowadays. Every time I watch a movie on there it recommends two or three others that I either haven't seen in decades or have never seen at all, so I add those to my playlist. I'll never have time to watch'em all but the endless possibilities keep me entertained.

We got rid of cable and stream Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Horror movies are always hit or miss as mentioned in general. Seems like they always have the worst of the worst on Netflix. Like Sharknado was good for a laugh, but not the second or third movies. We Are Still Here was an alright movie too. I liked how it was sort of a throwback to 70s horror movies.

Quite a few under-the-radar horror titles on Netflix that need more attention:

We are Still Here (PHENOMENAL, Aaron)
Housebound
Darling
Baskin
Holidays
The Invitation
The Babadook
Oculus (not sure if this one is still up)
Honeymoon
Hush
The Wave
He Never Dies (Henry Rollins)
The Host
Both Dead Snow titles
Stung
A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night
The Hole
John Dies at the End
Pontypool
Troll Hunter
Monsters
Harbinger Down (interesting story behind this one)
V/H/S 2

All fairly creative efforts that left me impressed and sometimes scared.

Some good titles on that list corpl.

I've lost track of how many times I've watched John Dies At The End.  Such a strange, strange flick that probably should have been about an hour longer to accurately explain all the weirdness that happens.

I loved Troll Hunter too.  Completely original.

And of course Dead Snow.  I still haven't seen the second one.  I ordered a DVD but it turned out to be PAL so of course I can't play it.

My wife and I watched The Houses October Built on Netflix the other night. It's from 2014, I think....we were just trying to check out a newer Halloween-themed movie. It's not bad, worth watching.

Also, I don't know if The Sacrament is on Netflix, but that's well worth watching. It's a bummer of a movie, but it's well made and Ti West is like the best current director.

Awesome, man, hope you like it. While I'm at it, if any of his other movies are there, and if you haven't seen them--House of the Devil is probably my favorite horror movie of this century and The Innkeepers is also really good.

House of the Devil is awesome. I love how they made it look and feel from the 70s. Just watched the Innkeepers. It had a few jumpy parts.

Thanks for the other recommendations. We'll watch one tonight.

Can we also talk about The Babadook? I felt like for two hours of movie, it had one part that was creepy. I found myself just angry at the little kid the whole time.

I would agree with regards to the Babadook. Really wanted to see it and was believing the hype and was so very disappointed.

That Houses October Built was a cool idea with some great footage and was rather enjoyable. I always am meaning to watch the short film by the same team that led to this full length movie to see what it is/was like.

I've been wanting to watch some horror movies on Netflix but with so many, I don't want to waste my time on something crappy. This thread will help me narrow them down. I remember watching dead silence in the mid '00s with my late best friend who was a horror movie buff. We both liked it.

We just watched The Hole. It started off really well and had me genuinely creeped out until the last 10-15 minutes of the movie where it just ruined the whole thing for me. Kind of like the House on Haunted Hill remake. Maybe I didn't understand what happened at the end? Deep seeded Daddy issues maybe? Either way, Teri Polo played the Mom and I find her super attractive. Very Happy

Toho - I agree about Troll Hunter - very original and entertaining.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T watch JeruZalem!!

DON'T DO IT! I've done it for you. That is enough suffering for one board. It's one of the worst acted, senseless, boring "zombie" movies ever, and it's a shame because it's set IN JERUSALEM! They blew their chance to make something great by hiring the worst actors and arming them with even worse dialogue. NETFLIX! You got me again!
