That look's awesome. BJ's restaurant has the seasonal Pumpkin Ale and it is really good too.

I went to Sams Club yesterday and decided to visit World Market next door. I went to the beer section and was like a kid in a candy store as I assembled a custom six pack.

Some beers I got: Holy Grail Ale, Left Hand Milk Stout, Moose Drool brown ale, Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale and Abita Turbodog.

Haven't tried them all yet but man, oh man, that Milk Stout is great! So thick and chocolatey it's almost like drinking bubbly chocolate milk. If you like dark, heavy, malty beer, Left Hand Milk Stout is a must try.

Oh man!

I just found out a new beer store opened up and it's on my way home from work so I swung by there today. Picked up Abita Pecan Harvest Ale and Bell's Double Cream Stout. I was looking to pick up some more Dragon's Milk because their web site said they had it but I couldn't find it.

I'm gonna be spending a fortune in that place.

I'm gonna try to stay sober until Thanksgiving. My grades are slipping. I have already gone a week.

Went to Oktoberfest in Alpine Village last night ( the 5th or 6th great-grandson of the man who started it all was the host) and had a Hef and one just called Octoberfest in my 32 ounce mug, plus whatever left-overs my buddies couldn't finish. Let's just say it was a good thing there were lots of bathrooms around because having over 2 liters of beer in your system is not your bladders best friend.

Ya Leo, that's why the first thing we did when we got there was to find out where all the bathrooms were before we filled our mugs Smile

I just put two cans to cooler - anxiously waiting them to be ready.

I a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y love good beer.. Staropramen, Kilkenny, Murphys, Guinness etc... Mainly dark beer.

I used to work for a Swedish-owned company and I got to spend about 10 days there back in the early 90s. On the train from Stockholm to Edsbyn, I tried Tuborg. It was OK but not dark enough. Got to the hotel in Edsbyn and I ordered up a six pack of Spendrup's Old Gold and that was good stuff.

Now I'm even more of a snob. I just finished a 4 pack of something called "Dragon's Milk". This stuff was the most complex-tasting beer I've ever had. It starts off with a chocolatey taste that changes to vanilla and finishes off with a bourbon taste (it's aged in oak casks). The stuff is 10% alcohol and costs about $4 a bottle but it's great stuff. Now I'm drinking something called Bell's Double Cream Stout. Talk about a dark, heavy beer...

I wonder If I can get that from my local liquor store?

I doubt it; it's not even that easy to find here in the States where it's made.

Thatīs what I thought.

We have some pretty strong national breweries in my area and they control the market. Of course there is imported beer also.. especially from Belgium, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Ireland and England.. but from US.. maybe Budweiser..

Budweiser? I wouldn't even use that crap to clean out my garbage disposal.

You read my mind.

But somehow it is imported here and young kids are drinking it thinking it is good.

True story.

The first year I moved to St. Louis (the main headquarters for Anheuser Busch at the time), a guy I worked with received an invitation to go to a beer tasting event at the brewery downtown. AB was testing various "microbrews" to try to compete with the expanding "real" microbrew market. He asked me if I wanted to go and I said OK.

We got there and received a bunch of tokens. We were told to go the the various booths they had set up and exchange the token for a cup of beer that each booth was testing then fill out a survey giving our opinions.

We went to the first booth and tasted the beer. Tasted like Bud Chocolate. Awful. We went to the second booth and tasted the beer. Tasted like Bud Lemon. We went to the third booth and tasted the beer. Tasted like watered down Bud.

We gave our remaining tokens to some other people and left after about 15 minutes. Everything had that awful Budweiser taste. Blecchhh!!!

There is a certain word in my language that describes perfectly the taste of Budweiser ( and some other beer also - to be fair ), but I am not going to translate it into this forum. I donīt want to get kicked out at the very first day.

Laughing

But to each to their own. There must be people who like Bud.. and so be it.

Iīm having one local dark lager right now..

cheers
