My holiday season was disturbingly beer-free till this weekend. The local liquor purveyor had a sale on 24 oz. cans of Labatt Ice (99 cents apiece!!) so I bought a crapload of 'em. Hiccup. God bless us, everyone.

Breaking out the Schlafly's Christmas Ale tonight. And something my fellow beer snob from work gave me called Eternal Flame from Capitol Brewery.

Well, we danish people (along with most of Europe, at least the northern part) celebrate christmas the 24th, so we open presents after dinner - it's been a great christmas yet again, got lotsa' metal and booze! Got some "soft presesnts" as well, which was nice. Now, after getting all nostalgic with my bro's playing really old computer games and ps1, I'm enjoying some Carls Jul, which is Carlsberg's official christmas beer - it tastes good, better than that shitty Tuborg Christmas Beer which seems to be the most popular. Sorry if my language is a bit off, I ain't exactly sober, hehe cheers

If Tuborg's Christmas beer is the most popular then I'm with you...go with the Carlsberg version. I find that what's most popular is usually due more to marketing than taste.

Drinking my last Schlafly's Christmas Ale. I'm going to Friar Tuck's Monday to see if they have any more. I didn't think much of this beer last year but for some reason I really dig it this year. Less orange peel flavor I think...

I have determined i dont like heavy beers. I much prefer the lighter lager taste.

Dark doesn't necessarily equal heavy. This isn't a stout or a porter

A classic example is a black lager. Pour one and look at how dark it is. But it's still a lager. BTW, "bock" is also a lager style.

I'm far from an expert on beer styles myself. I've only learned a little bit along my path to beer snobbery.

I'm also chilling a couple of my last Schlafly Pumpkin Ales until next Fall. I wish you could taste this King. Not heavy at all; liquid pumpkin pie.

Made another discovery yesterday. I ran across something from Schlafly Brewery called Holiday Ale. It comes in a pint and a half bottle; it's a "old English ale" that's "bottle conditioned". And the stuff is 8% ABV. Good stuff but expensive; the bottle was 8.99.

I become a bigger beer snob on a daily basis.

Resistance is futile; your tastebuds will be absorbed.

Soon you too will turn down your nose to tripe like Budweiser, Bud Light, Coors, Miller and the like. True taste will win out!

Actually, Yuengling is a decent "gateway beer" to beer snobbery.

I am a Sam Adams/Yuengling guy. I never understood the buds of the world because they were pretty much water..

Where's you sense of adventure?

And you forgot another one of my favorites, Black N Brew, a coffee stout! BTW, you'd love that Holiday Ale I discovered. It's described as "an old style ale" and it's great.
