PostSubject: ADAM BOMB   Fri Feb 23, 2018 3:49 pm

I just bought the CD " Fatal Attration "
I LOVED his guitar in TKO's " In Your Face " release.
One of my top ten personal favorite releases.
So went to WIKI ....interesting story.....

In 1979, when Adam Bomb was 16 years old,
he and Geoff Tate started a cover band called Tyrant.

Later he joined the band TKO, with whom he recorded the album In Your Face.

In 1982, Bomb auditioned for Kiss. He flew to Los Angeles and played three songs with them,
but was not invited to join the band. Instead, he moved to Hollywood
and shared an apartment with Jeffrey Isbelle, better known as Izzy Stradlin.

Bomb quickly became friends with Tommy Thayer,
a neighbor and guitarist for the rock band Black N' Blue (now guitarist in KISS),
who suggested Adam should do his own project and call it Adam Bomb.
Tommy Thayer's band "Movie Star" opened for TKO at The Showbox in 1981.

In 1983, Adam recorded his first demos with producer Rick Keefer.
He also played two gigs with Steeler as a replacement for Yngwie Malmsteen.
One year later, Adam recorded more songs with the aid of drummer Chuck Ruff of Montrose
and bassist Cliff Williams of AC/DC and finalized his first album, Fatal Attraction.[1]

In 1984, Bomb signed a long-term management deal with Leber Krebs
and moved to New York to start a band with former Billy Idol drummer Gregg Gerson,
Billy Idol/Riot bassist Phil Feit, and Aerosmith guitarist Jimmy Crespo.
Later, the band moved to Los Angeles and played openings
for bands like Armored Saint and Metallica.

On another night in 1993 when Adam was playing at The Loft,
Axl Rose walked in and started singing with Adam.
Axl explained that he and Izzy had seen him play at the TKO gig
in 1983 at the Troubadour in Hollywood
and were going to ask him to join the band they were starting,
but were afraid Adam would have turned them down.

I remember this guy (vaguely)... back in the day I sent in a coupon from "Circus" Magazine to get a free single of his song "I Want My Heavy Metal."

Months went by, and I never received anything. †Eventually I forgot all about it, and one day lo and behold, a single arrived in the mail ... but it was a Black N Blue disc. †I never quite figured out if that meant they'd run out of Adam Bomb singles and sent me BnB as a substitute, or if the label had already dumped Adam by that point and had moved on to the next band Smile

I told that story on another forum years ago and Adam Bomb himself (!) responded (you never know who you're gonna meet on the internet, do you? Haha) ... he thanked me for the info and said it was further proof that the label (Geffen?) simply never bothered to promote him.

I was like "I hope I didn't ruin your day. For whatever it's worth, I dug your song when I finally did get to hear it years later." I felt soooo bad for the guy! Laughing very hard

He seemed to be one of those guys that was always around the scene, but never was able to quite make it. He was always just short of stardom. In the words of Maxwell Smart "Missed it by that much".

He supposedly did the studio guitar overdubs on Aerosmith's Classic Live albums when Joe Perry was too out-of-it to participate. Or so the story goes.

Adam Bomb was signed to Geffen and immediately they thought it would be a huge star.

Apparently Mr. Bomb had a pretty good live audience following him in New York. The band he put together featured himself on guitar, vocals, Jimmy Crespo of Aerosmith on lead guitar, Riot drummer Sandy Salvin on drums and Billy Idol bassist Phil Feit, that is all who appeared on the first album 'Fatal Attraction'. After a few showcase gigs, Crespo walked and Adam Bomb continued the band as it was.

After the tour, he was dropped from Geffen but was prevented from releasing a follow up for several years, and Adam Bomb never exploded unto the scene but fizzled out. Incredibly enough Adam Bomb is still recording and touring.

I'm pretty sure there was some financial issues he was dealing with for a while...I can't remember all the details, but I remember him selling versions, maybe CDRs of some of his stuff on his website to help with his money problems a few years ago.

I dig Fatal Attraction, for sure.
