1. "I Love Destruction"
2. "F.U.B.A.R."
3. "All Kinda Crazy"
4. "Sippin' from the Insanitea"
5. "It's Always Something"
6. "Lost My Brain…Once Again"
7. "Nothin' to Lose"
8. "Gonna Be Alright"
9. "Ain't Gonna Get Me"
10. "All I Ever Get"
11. "Save a Peace for Me"

If any of these song titles sound familiar, it's because this new album is an almost complete re-recording of Mike Muir's 1996 solo album, Lost my Brain Once Again with the current ST line-up. A few tunes from the original were left off for whatever reason. Since I've never heard that album (and I suspect I'm not the only one), this might as well be a brand new ST album, which is fine by me.

New tune drops a few F-bombs if you're sensitive to that sorta thing.

I have the original album with Steve Jones on guitar. I'm starting to think Mike Muir is having some major writer's block. That said, I'm sure I'll get this just because Lombardo is involved. I just wish that Muir would get Rocky George and Mike Clark back in the band before he pulls the plug.

Yeah, I saw this. It's odd. That album is a punk album, which I guess isn't too far out of Suicidal's wheelhouse, but it decidedly different, too. I was thinking maybe they added more metal to the songs to make them more like a Suicidal tune, but this re-recording is pretty much note-for-note. It just has better production.

Mike gives an explanation...

Quote :
Mike Muir says: "Over 20 years ago, I recorded my first 'solo' CD for release (technically the second, the first being the 'Solocide' sessions which probably will never be released as it was intended). The Cyco Miko 'Lost my Brain! (Once Again)' album was released in 1995 and even featured guitarist Steve Jones from the SEX PISTOLS on seven songs.

Although [during] the 13 years I was in SUICIDAL at that point, I did things I never dreamed I'd have the chance to, or could happen, there were still way too many times that were extremely difficult to handle. Basically, 'love music, don't like the other stuff.' Anyhow, remembering that original love for music made me want to do a punk-STyle record and at the time I didn't feel it was, could or should be an ST album."

Muir explains that now with Dave Lombardo behind the kit leading the charge, he felt not only could he do this original Cyco Miko album its due justice, he could do it as a SUICIDAL TENDENCIES album. He adds: "Not retro, but taking it 25 years forward and making it a modern Cyco Punk record. Extremely dangerous after so many years, but damn, I love these songs and I feel them so much. Perhaps surprisingly more now than when I was 30! The music hits me hard, and the lyrics hit me harder.

"Life takes you places sometimes you don't want to be. I know that more than I would like to admit... but it led me here, right now and I'm so proud to be here! And the irony is a 'non-SUICIDAL' album has just made me more SUICIDAL than ever!"

So, take that for what it's worth I guess. I never heard the original, so I'm not too fussed by it. It's new to me.

Ooookay, then. I think I understood that. Haha.

It's a good album. Not amazing or anything, but a solid punk album. I'm interested to hear if any other songs have changed or if it's all just a straight re-recording.

"Sippin' from the Insanitea" isn't on the original, unless the name has changed. Wonder why the other three songs aren't included here. They're good tunes. "Cyko Miko Wants You" could have easily been changed to "Suicidal Wants You" and nothing would have changed. Weird.

Maybe he's re-recording them to regain publishing rights or something of that nature too. If the Cyko Miko album's out of print, this gets the music back out there, ya know? Sounds like he doesn't think the songs got their proper due last time around, so he'll try again under the ST moniker.
