Any other fans of this album round here? It's the only D.A.D. disc I own, but whenever I dust it off I end up listening to it over and over again for a couple of days straight. My fave tracks: "Sleeping My Day Away," "Jihad," "Girl Nation" and "Rim of Hell." They always kinda reminded me of the Cult a little, but they're not as "dirty" sounding if that makes any sense. Excellent, highly polished, catchy hard rock from a Danish band. Recommended!

I had heard them on Headbangers Ball years ago, and I thought they were OK. I haven't heard anything other than Sleeping My Day Away.

Ahhhh, Disneyland After Dark!! Excellent cd. They were lumped in with the other hair-bands of the day, but weren't as sleazy as some of their LA counterparts. And the guitars were more of a jangly, Stones kind of vibe, moreso than buzzsaw metal riffage. I don't listen to allot of my 80's hair-band stuff as much as I used to anymore, but this disc still gets plenty of spins. I believe they are still around, putting out albums in their native home (Denmark?, Sweden? Holland?) but good luck finding them.

This album was a favorite of mine. It is still a sentimental choice as it reminds me of a lot of great times of long ago. I actually found a copy (to replace the worn out cassette) a while back in a pawn shop. Always playing it.

Yes, they are still around, and they are from Denmark. No Fuel is still their best release though.... _________________

Cuz I sure wasn't till about two minutes ago. _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

Wounded Bird has reissued some quite good stuff. However, they don't go all out on that pesky remastering stuff. They release the CDs as is.

Yea, I have a couple of the Loudness and Vicious Rumors CDs that Wounded Bird reissued. A little remastering (and maybe nicer booklets) would be cool but I suppose these beat having to spend time and big $$ tracking down Japanese versions or hunting for the originals on eBay.
I just happened to stumble across D.A.D. on Best Buy's web site of all places (I got a gift card from a co-worker for Xmas) and was like "Wow, cool!" Cuz I never did get my hands on RISKIN IT ALL back in the day. _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

Yeah good album, not great or classic though. I love the earlier more varied cowpunk/bluespunk albums and EP's from these guys, but then again i'm a sucker for anything that's vaguely like the Gun Club, Tex And The Horseheads, Jason And The Scorchers, early X etc. These guys are a bit of an enigma, in not just their wacky humour. They always struck me as similar in idea to Hanoi Rocks in their 'born to lose' approach to melding so many different old styles of rock n' roll and proto-rock n' roll to something contempary like hard rock or punk, maybe its a Scandinavian thing. Jesper's voice is similar to Claude from Finland's Smack, although without the Stiv Bators death-trip. And his lead guitar playin' bro Jesper has a guitar vocabulary that reminds you of the countrified rockabilly twang of Duane Eddy or Link Wray one minute and the gothic crystalline neon hued tones of Love era Billy Duffy the next (although maybe those two styles have more in common than i think). Maybe this band is the first and only example of rockabilly/hard rock crossover!

I was born in Denmark (and I am 1/4 danish too...please, don't ask. haha), and I loved Disneyland After Dark. I own all their albums. "Scare Yourself", released in 2006, is one of their heaviest albums to date, although a tad more modern. Can't get enough of them, though. Great Band!

It's either "Adolesence in Red" or "Suck Some C*ck". The Z is silent. |
