I am not a theologian but you can't dismiss all of Christianity because one guy makes a stupid comment regarding suicide. |
It's not necessarily that - and I have no problem with christians or anything like that, I still have lots of christian friends and listen to christian metal, but I still think that if the spirit of the divine creator was to live inside christians they'd find it impossibly to make snidey comments about people dying. |
I get where your coming from, I have personally experienced people I am close to commiting suicide, and Dave should show at least a small degree of empathy. We may not agree or understand why a person would choose to end their life but you should at least express compassion especially if you are to call yourself a Christian. |

| Dave is a legend in his own mind... And my mind as well. Megadeth = legendary metal band Therefore, (by my math) driving force behind said band = legend |

| [quote]Mustaine: Well, they're entitled to their opinion, totally, and if they're talking from a music point of view, that's understandable, because there's only been one record so far with the new lineup. But what they have to realize is that I sang almost every single note of Marty Friedman's guitar solos, and I wrote the majority of Nick's drum parts, and I wrote almost every bass note that Ellefson played. It's just a matter of these guys getting into the groove.
Is that accepted truth! |

| Here's how I decide whether someone is a "legend" or not...and I don't use that word lightly.
1. When I think about the style of music (in this case metal) is it the first person or near the first person that comes to mind? Answer: not even close
2. If this person "did not exist", would the music be irreversibly different? Answer: no. Megadeth was an "important" band, but every album they released basically carbon copied the Metallica album that preceded it.
3. Did the individual change the cultural landscape? Answer: no.
Don't get me wrong, I "like" Megadeth...I admire Mustaine for what he's done...but in my estimation he's not a "legend".
Tony Iommi is a legend, Miles Davis is a legend, B.B. King is a legend, Ray Charles is a legend, Bob Marley is a legend.... |
