| A very important year in metal. But what is your favorite album from that year?
Mine? Reign In Blood, of course. Metal music changed on October 7, 1986, the day that album was released. (thanks Wikipedia!) |

| What a year that was. Master of Puppets, Peace Sells...But Who's Buying, and Reign In Blood, all in one year!! Things were NEVER that good again!! On the non-thrash side you had Stryper's Soldiers Under Command, Iron Maiden's Somewhere In Time, Judas Priest's Turbo... um, wait, scratch that last one.... But seriously folks: Master of Puppets > Anything else released in 1986. _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

| Actually 1986 is a deep trough for me. I know I'm supposed to say MoP!!! But I can't. It's good, but I far prefer Ride The Lightning from them. Iron Maiden falls flat with SIT (for me). Dio - not doing anything Judas Priest - Turbo? For me, that leaves either Slayer or Stryper and I pick Stryper - To Hell With The Devil. BUT! I recognize the landmark that is Reign In Blood. |

I thought I had you pegged to pick Bride's Show No Mercy. You never cease to squirm from the box I try to place you in, young scottmitchell. |

| Yes, I own the album. It's not that bad. In fact, I like it better than Silence.
I know, I know, I know! |

| In terms of the 'metallic' for '86 gotta go in order.....
1. Bad Brains - I Against I 2. Husker Du - Candy Apple Grey 3. Green River - Dry As A Bone 4. Zodiac Mindwarp & The Love Reaction - High Priest Of Love

| Since you claim to "know", I'll let you off the hook. And you're right, it's not that bad. It just makes me cringe every so often. |

| I agree completely with you on that. The synth were a turn off, but still I like both those albums a lot. So, keeping the "fanboy" mindset away I would have probably voted for Peace Sells....... But Who's Buying from Megadeth, but still SiT is fat better than the second in line. |

| Lizzy Borden's Menace To Society is another serious classic from '86. |

2. Husker Du - Candy Apple Grey

Good call, they never did anything to top this album in my opinion.
I'd also throw in Fates Warning - Awaken the Guardian. |
