Just picked up a couple of albums by these guys and it's good. Sort of a speedier Falconer with some harsher moments to give them a mix of power folk with hints of the pagan/death folk, mostly clean vocals though. Check 'em out if you want a little different spin on power metal.

I bought all their albums and I never got around to actually sitting down and listen to them but they are good. I got stuck listening to the song Divided Heart from The Scythe. Also another great song is Pagan Purity from the album Heathenreel

Elvenking are a good band, or at least up to and including The Winter Wake. They have a few mediocre songs, but generally are quite solid and fun. The Scythe however was a huge disappointment. I didn't enjoy it at all. They chnaged their sound to be more death-influenced, but it didn't quite work for me. And the song-writing was pretty generic, too.

Toho knows how awesome they are!! Elvenking = Top-10 all-time. Wyrd and The Winter Wake are both masterpieces in my book. They have so much emotion and write great songs. Love them!

Since I listend to The Scythe first and I like death I like the heavier edge. Winter Wake was a little bit of a let down but still very good.

Anyone heard Leprechaun? When Damnagorus left Elvenking he formed this band. They're just like Elvenking! Haha. I paid $17 for their demo CD. It came in a cardboard slipcase. Lame. But at least it was a professionally-pressed sleeve, because the damn CD was a CDR with the band/album name written on it in marker. WTF? Who does that? Anyway, I ripped the songs long ago because the CDR will likely stop working eventually. It's no longer for sale, so here it is (zip file): THE ULTIMATE DANCE Some killer songs on this, too.

Cheers Eyesore, I'll have to give it a listen. If it sounds just like Elvenking, it begs the question why did he even both leaving the band? He just came back for the next album!

It might have a bit more a folk feel, but take that away and it's still very similar. Great demo, though. "Rook Black Crow" is killer. |

Interesting stuff, maybe a little more folk and the guitar lines are more straight ahead but if you didn't tell me I wouldn't know Elvenking hadn't just diversified a little bit.

Anyone else a fan of this criminally underrated band? Their latest (been out a while) is a mostly unplugged folk style album. These guys write great, catchy tunes. One of my all time favorite bands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pwp_11Brask http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-Jv2vAauaA&feature=related
