Paul Stanley announced today that he will no longer be working with Kiss co-founder Gene Simmons. He has stated that he and Simmons no longer agree on the direction of Kiss, so he has decided to follow his own pursuits.

"Gene and I simply don't have the same ideals anymore concerning what Kiss should be", Stanley stated. "I think the makeup side of Kiss has run it's course. I don't have any desire to tour or record with the band any longer. In a way this really saddens me because the fans have always been there for us, and I swore that we would always be there for them. However, time moves forward. I have my solo career, I've become much more serious about my artwork, plus I have my family to consider. I need to take time to take care of myself and improve my health so I can be there for them. I simply don't want to be a partner in something I no longer believe in."

Simmon's reaction is sure to create an uproar with current Kiss fans, considering their reaction to Tommy Thayer taking the place of "Space Ace" Frehley, and drummer Eric Singer taking the place of Peter "The Cat" Criss. "I intend to keep Kiss moving forward, as I have over the past 11 years", Simmons said. "I have said many times that no member, including myself, cannot be replaced. I wish Paul well with his solo career, but my life is and will continue to be Kiss. Paul has agreed to play the dates we have scheduled for 2007, then we will be bringing in a replacement guitarist. Of course the fans expect to see the Starchild on the Kiss stage, so we will find someone who has Paul's look and presence on stage, and he will wear the Starchild makeup. Tommy has done an excellent job of replacing Ace, and it's getting harder for me to tell that Peter isn't behind me on the drums."

Simmons and Stanley have both stated in past interviews that they envision a day when Kiss will have no original members.

Where did this story originate? I haven't seen anything about it on Blabbermouth. While they might not be the be-all-end-all source of news, if they haven't mentioned it, I tend to think it's a bogus story.

AAAAHHHH.....why did you guys have to reply to such old posts?!! I got freaked out and neglected to look at the date of the original post. For like 30 seconds I was thinking that KISS was no more!

I dont think Paul will be going anywhere anytime soon anyway. Even though they talk big about their intentions of Kiss continuing on after they leave, I dont think that seems very feesable.

It's their bread and butter so i doubt they will abandon it anytime soon. The Rolling Stones are still going at it and their like 70 years old.
