The thought came to me when I listened to Rising by Rainbow and The New Order by Testament.

My pick is Rainbow, but it was a hard choice.

Wow. Two very different bands there. I like both very much, but of the two I would go with Rainbow. "Rising" is one of the greatest albums ever.

I'm not sure why we're comparing these two, but if I had to choose it would be Rainbow by a LARGE margin.

Not being much of a thrash fan, this vote was easy for me.

I have 9 Rainbow CD's and only 1 Testament. So, yes. Rainbow.

I have every Testament release and a big fat ZERO Rainbow releases. Testament rules, you drool...s.

Any of the first three are good starting spots. Heck, get them all they are all great.

No, I am Testament-less. Don't know why though. I absolutely love the first 2 albums.

I like Testament but Rainbow features Ritchie Blackmore my favorite guitartist. My god the solo he does on "Gates of Babylon" is incredible, Rainbow's 2nd album "Rising" is one of my favorite albums, I even like the Joe Lynn Turner years, " Jealous Lover" killer riff.
Blackmore's tone on those studio albums are perfect. You combine his killer guitar tone with Dio's vocals layered upfront, no contest Rainbow. By a very large margin Rainbow also cannot forget about Cozy Powell killer drummer, and Graham Bonnet was no slouch in lead vocals dept.
