| Being the huge horror fan I am, I always wondered who wins in a fight between the classic horror villains.
Out of these who would you pick in a battle.
Michael Myers - Halloween Jason Vorhees - Friday the 13th Freddy Kruger - Nightmare on Elm Street Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacres PinHead - Hellraiser |

i think with his power to summon chains and the magic he has, he would be tough to beat. I think Jason would win hand to hand combat. Myers is my favorite by far though. |

| I still go with Pinhead. He seems to get "destroyed" and/or contained in every movie but still has the ability to manifest himself. He's also the last really creepy movie character who got under my skin...so to speak. _________________ "Don't reenact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen."

Its a great movie, Lovecraft rocks. Little factoid, Dagon was supposed to be made instead of From Beyond initally, but Charlie Band refused on the basis that fish arent scary |

Both are great movies IMO.
But Dagon is much more atmospheric and creepy to me. Everything is cold and wet and then we begin to see the "inhabitants'... And fish can definitely be scary... _________________ "Don't reenact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen."

Indeed, I like them both. Im glad Band passed over it in its ignorance at first, because if he didnt, we wouldnt have From Beyond. |

| The S/M scene in From Beyond is still one of the most subtley erotic scenes I've ever seen outside of a porno movie. Barbara Crampton as a dominatrix rules! _________________ "Don't reenact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen."

One of the best scenes in any movie. Ive got tape boxes of both that and Re-Animator signed by Coombs. |

| Actually, my personal pick would be a "battle of the demons":
Rawhead Rex vs. Pumpkinhead. _________________ |

I need to see this again. If I remember, the story is actually one of HPL's called Shadow Over Innsmouth...but I guess Dagon sounds better! |

Its actually based on Dagon & Shadow Over Innsmouth, moreso Shadow, but it does incorporate elements of both stories.
IMO, Shadow Over Innsmouth sounds more forbidding. Edit: The only problem I had with the movie, is since they had waited so long to make it, the story was changed alot over time. |

| Dagon is good, but honestly, I still don't believe any directors have really nailed the Lovecraft "mood". Lovecraft's stories are almost surreal at times, but there's always a real aura of creepiness (The Rats In The Walls) throughout. Nobody has quite figured out how to reproduce that vibe onto film.
I actually think Guillermo Del Toro (sp?) would be the perfect choice to do a Lovecraft adaptation, he's skirted that territory in the first Hellboy film...I'd like to see what he could with a full-on Lovecraft story. _________________ |

Del Toro rules! I'm not really into "fantasy" movies but "Pan's Labyrinth" was really cool IMO. I also loved his Hellboy movie. _________________ "Don't reenact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen."

| The Devil's Backbone is worth watching as well, it's a really interesting variation on a traditional haunting tale...set against the backdrop of war. _________________ |
