PostSubject: AC/DC 11/15/08 Verizon Center, Washington, DC Review   Tue Nov 18, 2008 4:48 pm

AC/DC put on a GREAT show in the nation's capital on Saturday November 15, 2008 to a sold out crowd at the Verizon Center (home to the Capitals for you hockey fans and Wizards to you basketball fans). Irish band The Answer opened the show and played a good set. I'm was not familiar with them before the show, but they play good, driving hard rock.

After the usual opening act tear down, a short video was played of a train, an animated Angus Young in devil gear (on the highway to hell with attractive women), then the Rock N Roll Train crashed onto the stage (yes, an actual train prop), complete with explosions. AC/DC opened the set with Rock N Roll Train and ended with For Those About To Rock. Here's the set list:

1. Rock N Roll Train
2. Hell Ain't a bad....
3. Back In Black
4. Big Jack
5. Dirty Deeds
6. Thunderstruck
7. Black Ice
8. The Jack
9. Hells Bells
10. Shoot To Thrill
11. War Machine
12. Anything Goes
13. You Shook Me
14. TNT
15. Whole Lotta Rosie
16. Let There Be Rock

Encore
17. Highway To Helll
18. For Those About To Rock

The band was tight and put on a great set. The mix was decent for basically a sound mix in a cave (typical arena built by concrete). Brian Johnson sounded great on all songs except for Shoot To Thrill, where he sang it in a lower register and didn't sound great on the verses, but sounded fine on the chorus. The biggest suprise to me was how well he sounded on Bon's songs. I didn't think he would be that great having watched the songs on DVD and the live album. The other cool things was Brian kept the intro lines "hey you, yeah you" from the If You Want Blood version of Hell Ain't a bad....

AC/DC brought all the props - the new rock n roll train, "rosie", hell's bell and the canons. Overall, a great show and one worth catching if you can!!!

Forgot to add - when Brian introduced Dirty Deeds, he said something about "this is a appropriate town for this song"
