| I just saw a news item on Blabbermouth about a band called "Splattered Mermaids" -- that's gotta be the dumbest one I've heard in a while.

I used to hate when Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum dated Winona. I hated the band. But they eventually broke up and I love the band now. However, I doubt you will ever love Death Cab For Cutie.  |

|  BUMP! Heard any dumb band names lately? Read about a band on Blabbermouth today called "Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire" -- ummm, what? How the hell are they gonna fit all that on a CD cover or the front of a tour shirt?

| Pretty much every single emo or pop-punk band(and plenty of alternative bands as well) has a really stupid name-though Jimmy Eat World, Maroon 5(their music is even WORSE then their name!), and Dashboard Confessional are the stupid names that immediately jump to mind. |

| Actually I was curious to know how Weezer got that name after you said that since I never knew. I found out that Rivers Cuomo used get teased in school and people would call him Weezer. They were invited to play a show and needed a band name so they used that. They tried to come up with something better but Weezer stuck. _________________   |

I assume they got the name from The Beatles movie Magical Mystery Tour. There is a scene in which a house band is playing a song with the lyrics "Death Cab for Cutie". That's GOTTA be where they got the name.

I always thought they got the name from a Bonzo Dog Band, the album was titled " Gorilla" and one of the songs is titled " Death Cab for Cutie", as a matter a fact I think the house band is Bonzo Dog Band but I have not seen the movie in several years so I am not sure. |
Yup, the Bonzo Dog Band appeared in Magical Mystery Tour as the house band playing "Death Cab for Cutie". Terrible movie (and I say that as a Beatles fan), but well spotted! |
