I just saw a news item on Blabbermouth about a band called "Splattered Mermaids" -- that's gotta be the dumbest one I've heard in a while.

Too many bands by that name Gooch, if you are serious about the band, then somewhere down the line, you'll end up having to change it anyway. IMO

Not 100 percent sure because I never actually heard either band... I just remember seeing their names in club ads in "The Aquarian" (the local NY/NJ rock/music weekly paper) years back... I think "Buster" may have been a punk band and "Barney..." were billed as a "porn comedy rock" band if memory serves.

I used to hate when Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum dated Winona. I hated the band. But they eventually broke up and I love the band now. However, I doubt you will ever love Death Cab For Cutie. Razz

Read about a band on Blabbermouth today called "Clinging to the Trees of a Forest Fire" -- ummm, what? How the hell are they gonna fit all that on a CD cover or the front of a tour shirt?

The dumbest band "name" ever is when Prince tried to change it to that "love" sign that didn't even have a proper pronounciation or meaning!

Pretty much every single emo or pop-punk band(and plenty of alternative bands as well) has a really stupid name-though Jimmy Eat World, Maroon 5(their music is even WORSE then their name!), and Dashboard Confessional are the stupid names that immediately jump to mind.

Actually I was curious to know how Weezer got that name after you said that since I never knew. I found out that Rivers Cuomo used get teased in school and people would call him Weezer. They were invited to play a show and needed a band name so they used that. They tried to come up with something better but Weezer stuck.

How about A Life Threatening Buttocks Condition? That's a pretty bad band name.

I always thought they got the name from a Bonzo Dog Band, the album was titled " Gorilla" and one of the songs is titled " Death Cab for Cutie", as a matter a fact I think the house band is Bonzo Dog Band but I have not seen the movie in several years so I am not sure.

Yup, the Bonzo Dog Band appeared in Magical Mystery Tour as the house band playing "Death Cab for Cutie". Terrible movie (and I say that as a Beatles fan), but well spotted!
