| Tough one for me. Picked Van Halen.
In order 1a. Van Halen (One of the Greatest debut albums ever) 1b. 1984 (Perfect mix of pop and metal) 3. Van Halen II (Heavier production leads to a much sorer neck) 4. Women and Children First (Heavier still) 5. Fair Warning (Dark and angry) 6. Diver Down (A little to poppy, but still classic Van Halen) 7. 5150 ("Get Up" and the title track are some of the best Van Hagar songs) 8. Balance (Good heavy riffs, and "Baluchitherium" is one of my all time faves) 9. OU812 (Has slowly grown on me. "Source of Infection" is one of the best showcases of Eddie's skill) 10. For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (Expect for "Poundcake" and "Right Now," the album is a little weak) 11. Van Halen III (An experiment that didn't work. Don't hate it, but it is my least listened-to disc) |

| Crap, I meant to click 1984, but I clicked 5150! Oh well, that's a good one too. |

| I also went with the debut, I would rank them this way:
1. Van Halen 2. Fair Warning 3. Van Halen II 4. Women And Children First 5. 1984 6. Diver Down
I'll stop before Van Hagar. _________________ |

| I chose "Fair Warning" II is a close second, barely edging out the debut. being a teen in the late 70's and growing up in So. Calif, well it was difficult not to dig Van Halen |

| Fair Warning and 1984 are my favorites but i voted Fair Warning because the riffs are solid and overall it seems a little more heavy.

I like the Sammy Hagar era, but I donot think it can touch the David Lee Roth years, but other than my wife you are the only other person I know who prefers Hagar in the lead vocal spot in VH. |

Actually i remember a few people here that liked the Hagar stuff better. While i think Hagar is a great singer the stuff they did with him was on the boring side. |

| The DLR years had some great stuff, but I can't pick out an album I enjoy completely through (except maybe II). The Hagar stuff appeals to my AOR/Melodic Rock yearnings. Not to mention that stuff was a nice piece of the soundtrack of my summers growing up. |

| I went with the debut, but I almost went with 1984 because I think that was the 1st Van Halen album I had, a dubbed tape copy. So nostalgia plays a part of that. But song for song, the s/t debut was the best. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

Balance is underrated. The guitar tone is insane, and Eddie's guitar work is top notch. Again, "Baluchitherium" is one of my favorite songs, let alone instrumental. It's a must-listen for any Van Halen fan. :metal: |

Since this was not limited to just the David Lee Roth era, what is your favorite Van Halen over all? |
