Nobody...and I mean NOBODY...sounds like this band. Of course you can hear their influences, but they arrived fully developed. |

| Pretty much EVERY notable 70's British band had a distinctive style and sound. If you allow yourself to see how wide the margins for Rock n' Roll were, beginning around 1966 or so, then tapering and becoming more restrictive as the years progress. So, you have the most freedom to create and develop a distinctive sound the further back in time you roam. The closer one moves to the present day, the less room you have for individuality. All of the major niches are occupied by the time the present day rolls around, with the sub-genres becoming more bountiful and more restrictive of individual, artistic expression. Some examples of individual artistic vision in the 70's were Queen, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, YES, Jethro Tull, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, The Police, Wham! |

| Most of the bands I listen to have their own unique sound. That's what I cannot stand about today's music industry, you cannot distinguish one "artist" from another. At the risk of sounding like an old fart, when I was a kid you could hear a new song and know immediately who the band was from the guitar sound, or the drumming style, or at least once the vocalist came in. Therefore, most of the bands in my collection have their own sound from Aerosmith to IE to Iron Maiden to Nevermore to Opeth to ZZ Top...etc., etc., etc. |
