Violent New Breed was my introduction to industrial metal. _________________ "Don't reenact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen."

| The third one was a total departure from the hair metal of the first two. It's closer to White Zombie. _________________ "Don't reenact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen."

So I've heard. Some would say it was ahead of it's time, while others argued that the band betrayed their fans and tried to claim they were never a glam/hair band. I've never heard it, so I can't fairly judge. But I've seen some pics that would certainly put them smack dab in the poofy hair-spandex nancy boy category. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

Please listen to Vioplent New Breed sometime soon and judge it for yourself. I LOVE this album! I also really dig the other 2 more glammy platters as well. |

| VIOLENT NEW BREED was the first S.M. disc I heard as well. I found it in a bin of cheap CDs at a close out store sometime in the early 90s and figured what the hell, I'll risk 99 cents. I had only heard "Heartbreak Blvd" off the preceding album (SECOND COMING) before so I wasn't expecting VNB to be as vicious as it was, but it blew me away. I'm not a big one for industrial rock but Shotgun Messiah tempered it with enough "metal" guitar hero-isms that it worked for me. The best review I ever read of VNB (on the Heavy Harmonies web site) sez that it sounds like "Skid Row f**ked Ministry and had a baby." That pretty much sums it up. _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

| I enjooy the first 2.5 albums, but Violent New Breed just was not Shotgun Messiah. They should have changed their name. |

| Have you heard the I Want More ep? They started to lean that way with those tracks. |

Oddly enough, as much as I dug VIOLENT NEW BREED, I couldn't get into that Skold album at all. As I said, VNB still had enough "metal" in it to keep me interested, but the self-titled Skold album went total industrial and just sounded too cold and sterile for me. _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

| Another band I avoided, by the time I had heard of them, I took one look at their picture and dismissed them as another in the endless parade of hair metal bands, a genre I was sick of at that point. After reading Freddy's description, I may have dismissed them unfairly and I am now interested in hearing what they sounded like. |

| The butt touching is the line that shouldn't have been crossed in the picture. Everything else isn't as shocking. |

| Tim Skold is a member of Marilyn Manson's band nowadays, I wonder if they pin up photos like those around the studio just to f*ck with him. _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"
