It's all been said. I like Pashendale a lot and it has a couple other really good moments but nothing sticks with me. Not a clunker but it seems somewhat uninspired.

I feel somewhat the opposite of what's been said so far in that while I like all the new Bruce albums, Dance of Death is my favorite of the three. I just find that songs like Rainmaker, No More Lies, Montsegur, and Pashendale stick with me just a bit more than comparable tracks on the other two.

The album cover's total crap, though. I wish the band would reconcile with Derek Riggs and get him doing covers for them again.

Another GREAT Iron Maiden album!!!! The best since Brave New World - ok, that was the last album. I really like the three newer ones alot. It is always a toss up between Dance of Death and Brave New World for the number 2 slot on the newer Maiden releases. I really like all the tracks, but my favorites are Rainmaker, No More Lies, Face In The Sand, Age if Innocence and Paschendale - which is rumored to inspire the masterpiece studio release to follow this one.

The title track - I do like it alot, the first time I heard it, it sounded a little too spinal tap-ish for me, but it grew on me.

Journeyman is another track that took a while to grow on me and is another great song.

Wildest dreams, Montsegur, Gates Of Tomorrow and New Frontier are all good songs, but not as good as the others. Had these song been on No Prayer or any of the blaze releases, they would be stand out tracks.

That said, I am at least as big of a Maiden fan as FF is a Savatage fan.

This was the first Maiden CD I bought after Fear Of The Dark, it was an "impulse buy", even with the terrible album cover.

It was one of those records that I played quite a bit for a few weeks and then sat around and collected dust for a long time. Every once in awhile I'll pull it out, but really the only tracks that "grab me" are No More Lies (which I find quite memorable) and Paschendale. Aside from that I don't remember much about it.

I thought the production was a little too dry as well.

Not a bad album, just not a really memorable one.

I'm with you, this is my favorite of the Maiden reunion albums. Rainmaker, No More Lies, Montségur, New Frontier, Face In The Sand, and Journeyman are my favorite songs. Album cover is horid though but the music within is great.

I liked this one. Not as much as Brave New World but it was still pretty good. I got the last song Journey Man confused with The Thin Line Between Love and Hate back on my last post about BNW. That song was something different than what Maiden has done before. I wasnt really crazy about that song at first but after I heard it live I kind of opened up to it a little more. Some other great songs off this is Wildest Dreams, Rainmaker, Dance Of Death (I learned how to play it somewhat on guitar), Paschendale (which everyone else seems to agree on) and Face In The Sand. The others are good too but those were the ones I liked the most. The production wasnt as polished on this one like BNW but I still enjoyed this album. Only song Im not too crazy about is No More Lies. Another song with the dreaded repeat the chorus over and over again.

I remember a lot of people slamming this and saying how bad it was. Same goes for BNW but I dont get what they were thinking. I personally dont think Maiden ever sounded better.

I really love the Nicko's drumming on Face In The Sand. Hard to believe his foot is really that fast.

When this was new I absolutly loved it. I think I even liked it better than Brave New Wordl. But over time I'm a little bit more lukewarm about it. It is still a solid album, with some awesome songs. But as a whle it get's a tad samey with all the songs being longer, epic tracks.

Yea I dont get it. I keep trying to watch his feet in the videos to see. I havent had a chance to watch flight 666 yet maybe there is something on there with him doing it. I keep trying to do it myself lately but I cant get it to sound like he does. I think there is some trickery going on. Is there any other well known drummer that can pull that off?

I too was a bit disappointed in Dance Of Death given how much I liked the previous one. There's nothing really bad about the record per-se, it just doesn't seem to be as memorable to me. I can spin it and it seems to just leave my mind shortly after.

I know it's already been said but that's one seriously butt-ugly album cover. It looks like it was made by some 14 year-old kid with his own computer using digital models he found in a Playstation 2 game.

On to the next album, another live album from Iron Maiden that also was released as a DVD. 'Death On the Road' released in 2005 is one of the few Maiden albums I do not own and if someone could write a review of this album I would be grateful.

Can't help ya with this one Manny -- I skipped this one too. Coming so soon after the ROCK IN RIO disc I really didn't need another live Maiden release at the time.

I got it this when it came out because I also went to one of the shows from this tour so again its like a reminder of what I saw.

I guess I can do somewhat of a review for it. So here goes....

After the release of Dance Of Death Maiden released Death On The Road as a cd and also a dvd. Basically its the typical Maiden Live album and it just as good as Rock In Rio. This live disc features a bunch of songs off of Dance Of Death along with a song from Brave New World and even one from the Blaze Era Lord Of The Flies. The rest was usual Maiden classic songs that have been released time and time again. I enjoy this one but if your not big on live albums then its probably something you could skip. I think Rock In Rio was a bit better though mostly because they played Sign Of The Cross.

Iron Maiden seems to deliver a new compilation album, and a new live album, in-between every studio release these days. So after 'Dance Of Death', we now get the double live album, 'Death On The Road'. Do we really need this? NO! But is it a good listen nonetheless? YES! Iron Maiden has always been a great live act, and these 2 CD's reminds us of that once again. The track list reflects the album the band was touring for, of course. But for a long time fan, like me, it's actually better to listen to the band roar through some newer tracks, then to listen to the same old classics over and over in new live tapings. "Journeyman" for example. Do you think we will ever get to hear that one in concert again? Listening to Bruce Dickinson sing "Lord Of The Flies", from Blaze Bayley's first Maiden album, 'The X-Factor', is also a pretty cool. But in the long run, I'm not sure I'll pull out this effort when I want to treat myself to some live Iron Maiden on CD.

I don't own the DVD, and can't comment on that.

On to the next Iron Maiden album 2006's 'A Matter of Life and Death' and personally I love every track on this album.

This album is the most progressive album Iron Maiden have ever recorded, the arrangements are complicated but do not overwhelm the songs. After a 29 year recording career Iron Maiden know their craft and art very well. This is the best album they have easily done in almost twenty years. In this, what maybe the twilight years of Iron Maiden's career it is nice to that Iron Maiden's creative mojo is still intact.

The opening track sets things in motion by kicking off with a short song 'Different World', the rest of the songs on the album average between 6 to 7 minutes. The album never bores you and the songs are very well crafted. The album is not a concept album but covers topics of war and religion. These are some of the most intelligent lyrics this band has ever penned.

The songs may have been influenced by recent events but are open ended enough to generally speak of the human condition, without sounding preachy or condescending.

It is hard to choose one song that stands above others since it all flows together so perfectly. Lyrically for me 'For the Greater Good of God' and 'Brighter Than a Thousand Suns' both stand out to me.

Excellent album and one that I predict will stand along with the classics one day.

To me, this album is like Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" in that you have to listen to the whole thing to fully appreciate it. When I try to listen to just one or two songs individually, I findmyself just waiting for them to end (i.e. Brighter than a Thousand suns gets reeeally boring) but when you listen to the whole album, it really ranks among the top of the Maiden catalog. Most of the tracks have a similar sound to one another which creates a unique atmosphere of progressiveness with a vague but noticable underlying theme while still being undeniably a metal album. The lyrics are fantastic, the musicianship is top notch, the production is great, and the songs are all classic Maiden. Sure, it's far from the anthemic, power-metal band of the 80's, but it's an amazing and mature album from a legendary band.

Death On The Road - another Live offering from Maiden, better than the live/dead ones, not as good as Live After Death or ROck In Rio. A good performance - great to hear the Dance Of Death songs live! Favs include Dance OF Death, No More Lies, Paschendale total kicks a** live!!! Plus, Journeyman sounds AWESOME live!!

Personally, I perfer the 5.1 surround mix on this one to the CD mix as I also have the DVD. The only issue on the DVD is the editing, particuarlly on the first two songs - I am glad I do not have epilipsy, I would go into a seaziure it is so fast!

I will post my thought on A Matter Of Life and Death in another post, as it is my 2nd favorite Maiden CD after Piece Of Mind.

A Matter Of Life And Death - This is my 2nd favorite Iron Maiden album (after Piece Of Mind) and has held up VERY well in the 3 years it has been out. I have listened to this album many, many times and love it each and every time. This is one of those albums you pick up more every time you listen to it. This one captured me the first time I heard it and hasn't let go.

AMOLAD need to be listened to in one sitting, all the way through to truely understand it. The production is top notch and the album was never mastered - the band wanted the listener to hear it as they heard it in the studio. The biggest add that wasn't in the past two Iron Maiden albums is Steve's "click" is back. The galloping is there, the guitar harmonies, Nicko's drumming is amazing and Bruce, well, is Bruce at his best.

The albums starts off with "Different World", which transitions you into themes of life, death, war and religion. I initially thought it was the one song that didn't fit with the rest but now I get it - it's the transition song and takes you right into "These Colours Don't Run", about soldiers at war, to the creation of the Atom bomb with "Brighter than 1000 suns". Next up, we are on a journey in "The Pilgrim".

We are transformed to the D-day invasion in "The Longest Day", to questioning life and death with "Out Of The Shadows"

we then wonder about "The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg", which some Maiden fans think is about Eddie's life prior to his state on the cover of the first Iron Maiden album.

Steve Harris (in his only solo writing credit on this album) wonder if holy wars are what God would want in "For The Greater Good Of God", which has one of the best lines on the album "He gave his life for us, He fell upon the cross, to die for all of those who never mourn his loss"

What would happen if someone thought Lucifer was given a raw deal......

The album ends with the epic The Legacy - simple put, the best song Jannick Gers has ever written for Iron Maiden.

Musically, it's Iron Maiden, but a mature Iron Maiden. Simply put, this is a must have for any Maiden fan.

I was lucky enough to see them on the A Matter Of Life And Death tour where they performed the album in it's entirty. I can see why they choose to play the whole thing - it needs to be taken as one piece. That was an amazing concert!!!!

Weak songs - NONE!!! NO filler, all killer!!!

Strongest Tracks - All of them! To hard to pick out just one they are all great.

Hmmm.... Im surprised that everyone seems to like this whole album so far. I think its really good but I dont think its great. For some reason this reminds me a little of X Factor because its a dark album. My favs are Different World, The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg and For The Greater Good Of God. I do like the whole album but it does tend to get boring. I saw them on tour for this album as well. ive seen them after every album since Brave New World btw so i'll be seeing the next one too haha I'll have to say though that this show was probably one of the most dissapointing. The crowd didnt really seem into it at all and I dont think that the songs were familiar yet. It was a decent show but I think it was the wrong time to do something like that.

The whole Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg, what ever happend to that story they were suppose to reveal on who that was? I remember finding this website telling a whole story and his past and how someone is looking for him or somehting. I thought it was interesting but it was never finished so I guess we'll still have to wonder who he is.

I think this is easily the best album Maiden has done since Bruce and Adrian re-joined the band, as Joker mentioned above, it's a mature work and needs to be played all the way through to appreciate the scope. I've only listened to it a few times so specific tracks haven't jumped out at me yet...but it does sound like a seamless "experience" which I'm sure is what the band was striving towards.

It's definitely a "mood" album for me, as it's not the first thing that's going to pop into my head when I feel like hearing some Maiden...but when I'm feeling significantly "epic", it hits the spot. The only thing that bothered me about the record on the first listen was Bruce sounded like he was straining to constantly sing in his upper register...but I've become accustomed to it now.

While I still prefer the older material, Maiden has managed to age very gracefully.
