| I am strangely interested in theology, so I wanted to see if anyone had any philosophical quotes of interest. So, dig deep and find one Also, cool stories about your finding it and anything else are good too, because I imagine this won't get many hits otherwise. Here's mine: “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” Epicurus It just brings up a lot of atheistical questions in my mind. Only problem is, I'll soon have neo-Inquisitors at my door... |

| I know it's probably not what you're looking for but this is the quote I've run across that best describes my life.
"There are two refuges from the miseries of life; music and cats." - Albert Schweitzer _________________ "Don't reenact scenes from 'Platoon' with Charlie Sheen."

| Not exactly philosophical, but one of my favorites:
"In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has made a great deal of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move."
-- Douglas Adams, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" _________________ "Boys, set the terror level at code brown, 'cause I need to change my pants." -- President Hathaway, "Monsters vs. Aliens"

| All of the following are from Jean Rostand:
Kill a man, and you are a murderer. Kill millions of men, and you are a conquerer. Kill everyone, and you are a god.
Beauty in art is often nothing but ugliness subdued.
In politics, yesterday's lie is attacked only to flatter today's.
I don't judge a regime by the damning criticism of the opposition, but by the ingenuous praise of the partisan. |

| " I'm not drunk enough to taste this chicken" Col. Sanders (that was for the lulz, this one is for real) Of all existing things some are in our power, and others are not in our power. In our power are thought, impulse, will to get and will to avoid, and, in a word, everything which is our own doing. Things not in our power include the body, property, reputation, office, and, in a word, everything which is not our own doing. Things in our power are by nature free, unhindered, untrammeled; things not in our power are weak, servile, subject to hindrance, dependent on others. Remember then that if you imagine that what is naturally slavish is free, and what is naturally another’s is your own, you will be hampered, you will mourn, you will be put to confusion, you will blame gods and men; but if you think that only your own belongs to you, and that what is another’s is indeed another’s, no one will ever put compulsion or hindrance on you, you will blame none, you will accuse none, you will do nothing against your will, no one will harm you, you will have no enemy, for no harm can touch you. I love Groucho, here's some others of his that are great.
Money frees you from doing things you dislike. Since I dislike doing nearly everything, money is handy. Groucho Marx
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others. Groucho Marx

| Here are some of my favorite Søren Kierkegaard quotes: "Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards" "The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays." "To dare is to lose one`s footing moementarily. Not to dare is to lose oneself" "Face the facts of being what you are, for that is what changes what you are." And this last one is dedicated to the religious right wingers on board: "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use" |

| Virginity like bubble, one prick, all gone. Man who run in front of car get tired. Man who run behind car get exhausted. Man with hand in pocket feel cocky all day. Foolish man give wife grand piano, wise man give wife upright organ. Man who walk through airport turnstile sideways going to Bangkok. Man with one chopstick go hungry. Man who scratch ass should not bite fingernails. Man who eat many prunes get good run for money. Baseball is wrong: man with four balls cannot walk. Panties not best thing on earth! But next to best thing on earth. War does not determine who is right, war determine who is left. Wife who put husband in doghouse soon find him in cat house. Man who fight with wife all day get no piece at night. It take many nails to build crib, but one screw to fill it. Man who drive like hell, bound to get there. Man who stand on toilet is high on pot. Man who live in glass house should change clothes in basement. Man who fish in other man’s well often catch crabs. Man who fart in church sit in own pew. Crowded elevator smell different to midget. _________________ |
