| I thought this was funny. If you watch the video (you'll have to find it) you can see he gets really annoyed about answer Maiden questions. I guess I would be too if I was out of a band for all the years hes been and thats all people care about.
Former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno took part in a press conference last month during his solo tour of Argentina. When asked about the rumors that his drug use had something to do with his split with IRON MAIDEN, Di'Anno responded, "Where the Smurf do you people get this from? I left IRON MAIDEN because they were going too heavy metal, and IRON MAIDEN is a money-making machine, and I don't give a Smurf about it. It was not about drugs; it was nothing like that. Me and Steve [Harris]... I [wrote] the song 'Killers', Steve had [what he thought] were better songs. I thought his songs were smurf poo. Nothing to do with drugs; nothing whatsoever. Check your facts or otherwise this interview is over... I hate that! I smurfing hate that! Because people... You say something but you don't know. Well, I'm telling you. IRON MAIDEN is Steve Harris' band. It doesn't matter about anybody else — whether it's Dave Murray, Clive [Burr], me... it's Steve Harris' band and all it is is money, money, money, money — nobody else counts. And I wrote fuckin' 20-times better songs than his, but I only got one song on the 'Killers' album because it's Steve's — he must have this. Fuckin' Adolf Hitler. I'm not interested. So there you go. But you need to take drugs when you're with IRON MAIDEN because they're so smurfing boring. And the only drugs were aspirin, because Steve [making hand gesture as if someone is speaking into his ear]... Fuckin' headache." _________________ |

| It is funny and sad at the same time, by the way I have Paul D'ianno's first solo project after leaving Maiden and his two albums he did with Paul D'ianno's Battlezone, they are ok albums but a)he didnot write any of the songs b)they certainly were not better than Iron Maiden's material c) He has re-recorded and performed those Steve Harris penned songs since the moment he left Iron Maiden. That being said he is still an excellent vocalist. |

| It is a love/hate sort of relationship he has with Maiden I am sure; great to use for publicity but sucks to have it brought up all the time. It has been 28 YEARS for crying out loud. And I am sure that Paul is as much to blame for this being brought up in interviews because I am sure he is still marketed as former-Iron Maiden singer.
I do not pay much attention to solo Blaze, but can assume he goes through the same. |

Yet he still plays Steve's songs after all these years. He should concentrate on his original material if he's such a great writer. |

Paul Dianno didn't come off as bad as I thought he would, after watching the video. I think there is an element of humor in some of the things he says, but I'm sure it's masked by the resentful nature he has at their success. Paul can say whatever he wants to regarding not caring about success, but I can guarantee you he would've enjoyed that run the Maiden had without him from at least 82-88.
I thought it was more shocking when he started to talk about HAVING TO PLAY the old Iron Maiden stuff, because it was EXPECTED by the fans. My retort to Paul would be, "Don't play it, if you don't want to". I have a feeling he likes to, but his ego is slightly to big to admit it. If he hates singing the songs so much, then why do I constantly see him on Iron Maiden tribute albums these days? |

| I think what sucks about Paul D'ianno's post Iron Maiden career, is that in the mid 80's he recorded a pair of decent albums with his short lived Paul D'ianno's Battlezone and then spent the last decade or so just playing on tribute albums and tours to his own Iron Maiden past. I think that really sucks since he is a very talented vocalist. |

| He thinks he is 20 times better at songwriting than Steve harris and Iron Maiden is boring. Sorry Paul, Iron Maiden is not boring with two of the best guitarists in rock (Smith and Murray) and Bruce is not a boring singer either. His vocal range is epic. I did like the primitive version of Maiden with Paul but Bruce took them to new heights and success. |
