| Great album. JK's vox were a lot better than on the debut. Not a bad song at all. My only gripe is that Tommy Skeoch isn't as prominent as the inferior (IMO) Frank Hannon. _________________ I've been called worse things by better people.-Pierre Trudeau

| Sometimes the label actually releases the best song on the album and did that here with Heaven's Tral. |

| The Great Radio Controversy was one of the first releases I bought on cd. What a great sophomore release ! Excellent songs throughout. Flight To Nowhere is probably my favorite song on it. _________________ |

| Every bit as good as the debut IMO. A solid hard rock patter from beginning to end. _________________ |

| Tesla-Five Man Acoustical Jam (1990 Geffen Records) This perhaps started the craze with MYV doing all those unplugged shows? Imitation they say is the uttermost form of flattery, anyways... I dig the choice of cover tunes they throw out... a snippet of some Dead, full tunes by The Beatles, Ceedence, Stones and the only song that most radio stations today think they ever recorded... "signs" which is by Five Man Electrical Band. For the most part this is a fun cd, which the band seems to express that they are actually havin fun as well. I personaly like the video better. The only Tesla song they do on the cd I like as much as the original is perhaps "Paradise" and that is kinda/sorta pushin it. Later, other bands would jump on the bandwagon as they say to cash in the succes that Tesla enjoyed. I only liked this one and KISS. _________________ |

| I loved this one when it came out and I still love it today. I had the VHS tape of this show as well cause it was filmed in my hometown. While I didn't see Tesla at that time, I've been to the Trocadaro many times since then. It's a great little venue to see bands and is still in operation in 2010. I was fortunate enough to see Tesla there a few years ago when they played an anniversay acoustic gig at the same venue. I was hoping they would be recording it for a cd or dvd release so I could say I was there, but so far, no such luck. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

| I love this CD and this indeed was the beginning of the whole unplugged craze. A fun album and great choices of cover tunes and as James B points out a band having some fun, enjoying music for music's sake. |

| This one is kinda meh to me. For one thing, I don't like live releases and unplugged just never did it for me. I had it for a while but sold it off. _________________ |

| How different was this at the time, a hard rock band unplugging? It was great and still is a fun listen. |

At the time it was a very big deal, acoustic arrangements from hard rock/metal band was considered a novelity and showed the true songwritings talents of the band, then of course every band did unplugged performances. |

Absurd! Although before the drugs and alcohol, Skeoch was awesome. |

I seem to remember MTV claiming that it was Jon Bon Jovi & Ritchie Sambora performing 'Wanted Dead or Alive' acoustically on one of their award shows that spawned the idea of Unplugged. But Tesla's performance here certainly showed that it could be marketed and sold as well. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

I agree that's why I said Hannon was IMO "inferior" b/c I think Skeoch is the better guitarist, Hannon seemed to get the lion's share of the solos on TGRC.
5MAJ is a cool album, good covers. _________________ I've been called worse things by better people.-Pierre Trudeau

| FIVE MAN ACOUSTICAL JAM was pretty unique for its time. People everywhere were like "Huh? What? Acoustic guitars? You mean them long haired hard rocker types can actually play?" As you all know I'm not a big live album guy but this one is an exception. The band sounds like they're having a hell of a lot of fun on this disc. Of course, once "Signs" took off and this record sold a million zillion copies, suddenly everybody and their dog started doing unplugged/acoustic shows and releasing them as albums, which kinda took the fun out of it. I've only owned two other "unplugged" albums over the years besides this one -- Nirvana's and Kiss. _________________ "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick a**...and I'm all out of bubblegum."

| My absolute favorite album by them. Great review - it says it all for me. The first 5 tracks are classics, as well as Freedom Slaves and What you give. Don't De-rock me is the song I jam to - both guitarists shred big time. Great review James! |

| My favorite Tesla album, every song is a classic and they kicked up a notch or two on this album. I thought it was unfair to label this band as a hair metal band, since their songs where alot more musical and lyrically put together than most of those bands. |

| I'd never heard this album till fairly recently, when I picked it up at a thrift shop for a buck. I was never much more than a casual Tesla fan in the past, but I figured I couldn't beat that price. Anyway, it turned out to be the best buck I've spent in quite a long time. PSYCHOTIC SUPPER is a fantastic album!! Fave tracks: "Don't De-Rock Me," "Freedom Slaves" and "Song and Emotion," I also enjoy singing along to the sarcastic "Government Personnel." I can see why this one is rated so highly by Tesla fans. _________________ "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick a**...and I'm all out of bubblegum."

| I don't know if I'd call this one my favorite, but it's way up there in their catalog. I think this is the album that they really found their sound. They slowly built a foundation with their earlier albums, but by this point, they had some real success and could do what they felt like in the studio as opposed to "looking for a hit" or fitting into a formula for the record company. Brought this one into work with me this week too for a refresher. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007
