Oh yea, that's right. I traded for some "favors". I'm a gentleman, so I will not describe the transaction other than both parties were satisfied. At least I was. Sleepy too. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

| My fave Tesla album for sure, they were at their peak and it's good to hear Tommy Skeoch in a more prominent role, he is vastly underrated. Both Skeoch and Hannon had such different styles and they worked. JK's voice was in fine form but then again he's never lost the power of his vox. _________________ I've been called worse things by better people.-Pierre Trudeau

| I love this album and it is too bad that the band got unfairly lumped with hair metal bands, this band actually had more common with the so called grunge bands.
Every song is a winner and I had no idea that this was going to be a swan song, at least for the time being. |

| This is my least favorite by them but it's still a great one. I agree with Manny, some commonality with grunge but by no means a sell out. |

| My second fave from Tesla, I remember gettng it the day it came out and by that time I was more than ready for a new Tesla album. What can I say? This album is an arse kicker for sure, not as complex and polished as Psychotic Supper but it's bi-polar in a sense, there's love songs, hate songs, sad songs even happy songs but it has a darker undercurrent than its predecessors. James B. is right Tommy kicks major @$$ for sure as I've said many times on this board he's IMO one of the best and most underrated guitarists ever, his solos on Try So Hard have so much feeling to them, great album, never cared for Games People Play but they did a good cover of it. The breakdown at 3:45 on Shine Away sure does sound like Black Sabbath's Heaven And Hell.
I've always wondered why the globe is upside down on the logo on this album. _________________ I've been called worse things by better people.-Pierre Trudeau

| I'm not sure why, but this is probably the least played album in my Tesla collection. I don't dislike it at all. There are plenty of great songs on there. But for some reason, it's not an album I go to much when I'm in the mood for Tesla. I never owned it on cassette and only got it on cd about 3 or 4 years ago. My old roommate had a copy of it, so I was familair with most of the songs, but it just never clicked with me. Maybe it goes on for too long? It came out at a time when I was transitioning out of my hair metal phase and getting into harder.heavier music, so maybe I just didn't spend enough time with this one. Up to this album, all of my Tesla tapes/cd's got played to death. Maybe I was a little burnt out on them? I dunno really. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

| Bust A Nut is an awesome album. I'd put it a hair behind Psychotic Supper and just ahead of the Great Radio Controversy. My faves are Mama's Fool,The Gate/Invited, and Earthmover. _________________ |

| Took me a while to dig this album. Some great songs from the start, but I remember when I heard the first single, "Mama's Fool," that fat, more modern riff just irked me. Now I love it, though. There's only one or two songs I could live without ("Need Your Lovin'," "A Lot To Lose") and even those are good. I've just never thought they wrote very effective ballads or semi-ballads. They do have some great ones, though.
Anyway, once I was able to digest their new "thickness," this album just clicked with me. I think it's fantastic. |

- "Signs" – 3:14 (Live)
- "Paradise" – 5:09 (Live)
- "Edison's Medicine" – 4:48
- "Song & Emotion" – 5:55
- "What You Give" – 7:18

- "Steppin' Over" – 4:22 (Previously unreleased)
- "Changes" – 5:03
I personally own the "companion" DVD to this "Best Of" release. Notice the quotations on best of I would have chosen different tunes fer sures, but more often than not ? That choice comes down to the record company and usually coincides with an end of contract obligatory thing. To me, if somebody wanted to check out what Tesla is all about. Pick up one of the albums. That serves that purpose just as good as this does. If ya want to get a more personal overview, buy the DVD. It has the same title. _________________ |

| Got this one, but it's pretty much just a space-saver in their discography. Can't remember the last time I played it. Picked it up when it was first released because at the time, the band was pretty much over, on hiatus, doing other projects, etc. Thought that one unreleased song would be the last we'd hear from them. Luckily we were wrong. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

| I have this CD and like MG is really just a pass saver, I like it because I do like Tesla's hits, I did not like the fact they edited the intro to 'Suzi' but it is a minor point and it is a good album for a comp. |

| Tesla is a band that a comp would have to be at least two discs worth. The first two albums are must haves so it's hard for me to cut out songs. |

There is also Tesla Gold, a 2 disc greatest hits with some unrelesed b-sides and a more comprehensive overview of the band. I don't know if the band had anything to do with that one or if it was a record company release. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_-_Gold I wouldn't mind having it for some of those b-sides, but I'm still holding out for that rumored box set that's been talked about for ages now. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

Oi! I didn't know that had all those b-sides! I have most of them from the singles they were originally on, and the others as downloads, but I'll have to snag that if I see it cheap.
Given it's generic title, I figured it was just another cash-grab compilation. But someone put some thought and effort into that one.
I wonder if it's all be mastered together, though. "Love in Vain," from what I remember of the download I have, is pretty low quality. And those b-sides just suffer from the lower levels of mastering of the time. Would be nice if it was all remastered to bring those levels current and consistent with everything else on the album. |

| The wiki link says it's remastered, for what it's worth. I used to have a few of them myself on cassette singles, never on cd. I'd probably get it cheap if I could. _________________ A legend in posting since February 1st, 2007

Jeff's voice is on. The guitar dudez are nailing it. Summer's Day is the only non lp tune on either disc. I was at the Arco Arena show here in Sacramento where I believe most if not all of this was recorded. It was fun for me cause I got to hang out back stage. _________________ |
