Oh, and Chris wants to know when you're gonna do the Era Vulgaris album review.

Heard the first Soulfly and gave up. Haven't heard any of the others.

Era Vulgaris? Who? Do I have this to review? I have a huge stack of un-reviewed CDs. I'll have to see if it's in there.

Check out Soulfly/Dark Ages and you'll be surprised how good it is.

What, is nobody commenting on reviews or reporting typos/errors on Ult's and/or Kmorg's sites anymore? It took me forever to find this frickin' thread. Laughing

Anyway, Ult, I was just looking thru the newest additions to N.L.T.M. and in your review of the new Metallica disc you refer to it as "Death Magnet" several times, rather than "Magnetic."

Just thought you might wanna fix that.

A lukewarm album for ZZ Top. This one came five years after the release of "Afterburner", yet it sounds like a tired follow-up to that album. There are some strong points on this disc, like the smokin' boogie of "My Head's in Mississippi" and the synth-pop-rock of "Doubleback," but otherwise, not one the band's best discs. An attempt at "Eliminator" that didn't quite capture that same energy and excitement. Ironic album title, don't ya think?

I thought it was much better than the two that preceded it. Much more blues influence and less of the dance beats and synthesizers.

3 things:
-on the Speed and Spikes Vol. IV review you spelled "music" wrong, you spelled it "myusic"

- On the Stricken page, the link to Stryken is Styken

- How come you didn't review Pulse by Pink Floyd?

Oh, and sick Amboy Dukes logo.

Thanks. I'll fix those two things.

I did review it but the review got deleted somehow. I have to re-write it now because I can't find the original. Oh well.

I dig that logo. It's the black and white logo off the back of the debut album. I just scanned it in and colored in in Photoshop.

I thought that the title was pretty ironic. The material seemed like recycled songs from Eliminator or Afterburner. Sure, the production was different, but the songwriting just didn't do much for me.

I forget which review it was written in, but you mentioned something about grunge, saying something like "who wants to listen to boring modern rock played by kids dressed like they just got out of bed?". I realise it was only meant to be a joke, but it seems like a bit of a silly, empty criticism on a page of well-written, intelligent reviews.

Your review of Ted Nugent's ' Nugent" , you liked that album alot more than I did. I was very disappointed with the album.

Ted Nugent had his best line up in years but the production was a huge let down, it was like he wimped out his sound for radio play. 'Tailgunner' is the only song that comes close to being a Nugent classic. I felt this album along with Penetrator and Little Miss Dangerous were the worst Ted Nugent albums, like he was having a musicial identity crisis.

Not a bad album but by Ted Nugent standards and considering what he accomplished before, it was a huge disappointment. It was beginning of a creative downward slide til he redeemed himself with " If you Can't Lick 'Em" album.

Well, being a bit of a Ted Nugent fanatic, I guess I can be a bit biased. I like all those albums to different degrees. I personally think Nugent is a great album. Sure, production is thin, but it was the 80's.

I will pull this album out and give it another spin. It has been along time since I listened to it, I can listen to this album with fresh pair of ears.

I disagree with the Anthrax P.O.T. review on Metal Metropolis. It's not a mediocre album, it's one of their best and definately a darker more serious record. I guess i just don't like it being referred to as mediocre since it's my second favorite 'thrax record.

I had to go back an re-read my review 'cause I don't remember thinking P.O.T. was a mediocre record. It's a really short blurb about that album, but I didn't say it was mediocre. Actually I said it was a great record.

Anthrax - Persistence of Time (Island) 1990

1."Time" (6:54)
2."Blood" (7:06)
3."Keep It in the Family" (7:07)
4."In My World" (6:23)
5."Gridlock" (5:08)
6."Intro to Reality" [instrumental] (3:24)
7."Belly of the Beast" (4:46)
8."Got the Time?" (2:44)
9."H8 Red" (5:02)
10."One Man Stands" (5:39)
11."Discharge" (4:11)

A great album! One of my all time favorites of any band. "Persistence of Time" just never lets up! The band was obviously at the top of their game, even though things were beginning to go sour between the band and Belladonna at this point. Cool rendition of Joe Jackson's "Got the Time?"

That's why he was protesting the one on Metal Metropolis! lol!

I agree that is is a more "serious" or "marture" album, but the humour and goofyness was part of the appeal with Anthrax. POT has some great songs, but it's nowhere near as good as Among The Living or Spreading The Disease, imo.

I completely disagree with your Sevendust review of "Home" - Especially your praise on the title-track - That song is just boring....really boring!

I tend to agree with most of your reviews, but not that one.

I do completely agree with your Disturbed reviews

Hey ult, ever plan on Getting "Melissa" by Mercyful Fate? It's a great album, one of my favorites. No MF collection is complete without it!

The other MF album that you don't have, "Into the Unknown", is great as well!

Kmorg's review of Megadeth's The World Needs a Hero was kind of a shock. No cool songs? What about Moto Psycho or Disconnect?

Sure. Would love to have it. Use to own Melissa on vinyl. Have a copy you want to donate to the cause? Very Happy
