Awwww, gee, now that would be a shame. You'll be missed.

Wait a minute, what am I saying?

Don't let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out, bud.

Anyone know where I can download this album?

I'm also looking to download the entire Iron Maiden discography.

Thanks in advance... Cool

Right that's f*cking it. Now someone else having a go. I am getting sick and tired of being rounded on everytime I say something about downloading.

How exactly did i not back my point well?

Absolutely f*cking sick and tired of defending myself on this subject, think i'll just give up and leave his site.

If you imagine an irate John Cleese saying this, it's pretty funny! Haha.

I'll be very blunt here, bro; it's not about what you're saying, but how you're saying it. It comes off arrogant and insulting. You seem to not realize that most of us here are serious collectors, serious music fans. Yes, it is illegal to download MP3s from filesharing sites and whatnot, but you're lumping us in with those people that have 300,000 MP3s—all illegally downloaded—on their computers, while they own three actual CDs—all of which are laying outside the jewelcases in the backseat of their car, looking like they lost a fight with a cheese grater.

Right now, I have 25,355 MP3s on my home PC. I have a folder labeled New Downloads, the folder I rip music to before putting them in a different folder, the band's specific genre. This is also the folder where I download—yes, illegally—a handful of albums per year. They never leave this folder until I buy the album. Then they're deleted. Right now, there are six folders in there, all rips of legally bought albums. And out of those 25,355 MP3s, very few are of things I do not own. And we're talking about early Testament and Edguy demos, things like that.

Am I a thief for downloading a few albums per year. Sure, if you want to get technical. But I own almost 6,000 albums! Is that justification for thievery? Of course not. But to treat someone like me in such a manner that suggests I'm just as bad as those that never buy an album is insulting, at the least. Not only do I pay for the music I love, I've been supporting bands passionately for well over a decade now by writing thousands of reviews and hundreds of editorials.

I love music. You have no idea what music has done for me in my life! But there are a few bands that I just love so much, that when their album leaks, I may download it and give it a few listens. A few! And that's the honest truth. Then it gets deleted and I buy the album as soon as it is released. I also can't blindly buy everything, I simply don't have the money. So yeah, I download some albums occasionally, to get an idea of whether or not it deserves my money. 30-second samples are not long enough to get a good feel for an album; nor is a site like MySpace good enough. Bands aren't stupid. Labels aren't stupid. They're going to upload the songs most likely to capture the attention of the listener. Even if all four songs on MySpace are awesome; does that mean the 11 other tracks on the album are good? No way!

When you own 6,000 albums that you've paid for, spent upwards of $200,000 on, then maybe you'll understand the concept of liking to know what you're buying before you spend that money. I don't give a crap what anyone says about me downloading a few albums per year. I support these bands and this industry in ways that few people do.

And it's usually those that support bands very little that have the biggest mouths. Which are you, Ultra?

Well said eyesore. You can't just buy anything blindly these days... especially with the strict return policies that most stores have.

If you were a little less aggressive in putting your views across, maybe you wouldn't be met with such hostility.

Also, I echo Eyesore's lengthy sentiments a couple of posts up.

I tried being nice to this dude when he started his "F**k Using The Search Function" thread a while ago. Obviously he hasn't learned a thing about being civil since that episode, so hey, if he wants to leave, it's a free country. He's lucky I'm not a Mod on this board cuz if I was I woulda banned his ass already.
