| Some of you may know...I've been working backwards and trying to get some of the albums I missed in the 80's and 90's when secular music was "Say-tonic" (my Dad's pronunciation) and I picked up Slaughter - Fear No Evil on the cheap thanks to Stormspell.
It came out in 1995 so I wasn't sure what to expect being that's in the middle of that period.
Well, imagine my surprise when I pop this in and hear some nice flat out rockin 80's/early 90's style dirty, gritty Hair-ish (even Sleazy) metal!!
The vibe, attitude and sound of this album is perfect. The more I listen to it the more I love it. It's not smooth like Tyketto, American Angel, or the more well known "hair" bands of the time and it's not real dirty either but it's a surprisingly catchy album. Heavy and catchy! Melodic and dirty. Sweet!

| Great album. There really isn't a bad Slaughter album. The Wild Life is probably their worst. It sort of sounds like debut follow-up that was rushed, but it's a decent album. Revolution and Back To Reality are also great overlooked albums.

| | I think he(Mark Slaughter) had a distinctive vocal style, kinda/sorta unique ? perhaps not ? I have an Excusion lp with him playing some really good guitar. I was surprised. I had the lp before he was ever in VVI, got it from my cousin who lived in Vegas. |

| | I found Mark Slaughter's voice gets on my nerves, but I did see these guys live in a tiny-ass club in the late 90's. My buddies & I heard they were playing and we couldn't believe it. We went more as a goof, but it turned out to be a really good show. I liked them better live than anything I've heard on record. |

| Good album. My favorite Slaughter CD is "Revolution". Has a T.Rex/Sweet feel to it.

That Xcursion EP is awesome (I don't own an original, only a CDR, although I think Old Metal Records or Reborn Classics bootlegged it some time ago) - very Iron Maiden/EP-era Queensryche. At times, Mark sounds like a dead ringer for Geoff Tate (awesome!) - he also uses a mid-range vocal a fair bit which is pretty cool.
I don't know, but I find his voice on VVI's All Systems Go excruciating at times; almost like his voice got really nasally or something. I honestly haven't heard much from Slaughter, aside from the hits, but if 'Revolution' has a glam rock flare to it, I'll have to check it out.  |

| 5 weeks later and this is my heaviest in the rotation. I can't stop playing it. Now my girls are starting to request it. This is swiftly climbing the charts on my all-time ranking. I love the sleazy, fun, party sound. WHEN  I someday become proficient enough on the gee-tar this is how I'd like to jam.

That's not how to make friends and influence people, sir. Folks round here like a wide range of hard rock and metal... and as Eyesore said, it ain't hair band's fault that the Canadian guys were too dumb to copyright the name!!
(Just for the record, I'm familiar with BOTH Slaughters, and I never thought either one was very good....)
By the way, what's with your habit of capitalizing the "T" in the middle of the word "MeTal" all the time? It's kinda annoying.

And, Fat Freddy, I guess if the name were such a hot commodity, they may have gone through the legal hoops to copyright it; but when you're a young band you don't suppose anything like that will happen (though you should suppose it!) As for the annoying habit of capitalizing the T in MeTal, it is a nod to Manowar (notice how they pronounce a hard "t" sound, rather than pronounce it the other way that sounds like "meddle"); it is odd, because I've seen over the years all my fiends as well as many band members who pronounce it with the hard "t"; I don't know if it all stems from Manowar or not, but that is why I capitalize the T, in order to accentuate the pronunciation. |

You might find it shocking that when the rock band Slaughter formed, the death turd version of Slaughter had only released demos. Gosh.
