Got my copy in the mail late last week and was able to give it quite a few spins this weekend. Overall I like it very much. There's a coupla tunes where the vocals don't quite work for me, but I think it's more a familiarity with the original that makes it hard to seperate. I like that there's some tunes on there that I was completely unfamiliar with though too. And kudos for going with a latter day Megadeth tune. So many of these tribute album pull from the "classic" era of a band, ignoring their later out-put.

It's obvious tha band had fun doing this album and I'll certainly enjoy listening to it. The liner notes and artwork were very nicely done. As I've mentioned in other posts on the subject, I enjoy a good cover/tribute album and Lex Metalis fits the bill nicely. Good job guys.

I know what you mean about separating the vocals from the originals. I had a REAL hard time NOT singing the songs more like the originals. Ysidro, our engineer, would catch me drifting into that sort of thing and would remind me to sing with the "Ultimatum snarl and attitude". What songs in particular did you have that problem with and which songs were you unfamiliar with before hearing them here?

Not my favorite Ultimatum album, but I like everything Ultimatum has done though.

"Ultimatum snarl and attitude" thought that what elvis did with the lip thing!! lol! "ton of bricks","denim and leather" and "creeping death" still my favs!! would make awesome ringtones!!

I'm not a real huge fan of cover albums to begin with. So it's a compliment that I even like this at all.

I think Ultimatum does a great job, but I just prefer them with their original material.

"Into the Pit" and "Puppet of Destruction" both are two of my fave thrash albums.

"Sin After Sin" is actually one of my favorite tracks on the CD, along with Ton of Bricks, Locked in Chains and Gut Wrench. We took an old, classic, mid-paced, heavy metal song and turned it into a thrash song. It was REAL hard for me not to sing that song as it is ingrained in my head too. Been a Twisted Sister fan since they were playing the clubs and releasing only 7" singles. I can understand why people wouldn't like the vocals on that song, if you are use to the original.

This is one of my favorite, albeit short, reviews:

...one of the better thrash metal works from the American metal scene of the past few years...(they render) the songs faithfully, the exceptions being "Ton of Bricks", which is a violent brutal thrasher, sounding way more aggressive than the Metal Church original; and "Sin After Sin", here turned into a piece of jolly light-hearted thrash/crossover....
